I owed the military star card XXXX dollars and after several attempts with this company to arrange a reasonable payment plan, the company put me in collections with XXXX systems. XXXX systems began garnishing my wages without a court hearing or notification. After garnishing my wages and refusong to explain or give me access to any information of fees and penalties I am being charged. After garnishing my wages for a year and me paying over XXXX dollars they stop garnishing my wages. I contacted my HR department and they said I must have paid them off because they ended the garnishment. XXXX XXXX now say I owe them over XXXX dollars. I feel that there will never be any end to this financial assault.
I asked if my monthly payment was applied to the highest interest rate balance first before being applied to XXXX percent interest promotional balances. I also asked why the promotional balances do not appear on my statement. The only useful thing that appears on my statement is the date the promotional offer expires, but not the balance remaining of the promotional purchase. The customer service representative I spoke with said that I need to call them to tell them how to apply my payment to the different balances. This info does not appear on my statement. I believe that they are intentionally paying down my interest-free promotional balances before the offers expire so that my retail purchase balance remains and acrues interest. My monthly payment usually ( if not always ) is greater than my monthly regular purchases. The intention is to avoid paying interest by paying in excess of my regular purchases.
On XX/XX/year>, I ordered one {$100.00} XXXX XXXX gift card. I received an email with gift card number and pin. Then i noticed the charge for {$1300.00} for 13 {$100.00} XXXX cards. I contacted aafes immediately and they have never removed it. I asked them to send me the ones I was charged for or remove them completely. I told them it should be easy to track if it was issued. They have never resolved it and stopped replying. I have disputed and its not been corrected and now its in collections. Very disappointing experience. I have sent emails nearly monthly since XXXX and received zero assistance.
AAFES/MILITARY STAR illegally seized my XXXX federal tax refund through the Treasury Offset Program without providing the legally required pre-offset notice under 31 U.S.C. 3716 and 31 C.F.R. 285.7. AAFES claims they sent statements to my old address and that mail was " returned. '' However, I moved from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX AL XXXX in XXXX. This is confirmed by a XXXX XXXX XXXX statement dated XX/XX/XXXX, billing me at XXXX XXXX XXXX for services rendered XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. Despite knowing or having reason to know my address changed, AAFES : Continued mailing statements to the old address in XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX Never updated my address in their system Never sent the legally required pre-offset notice to my correct address or IRS filing address Successfully executed a Treasury Offset on XX/XX/XXXX for {$2100.00} using my correct SSN/IRS information , proving they had accurate data but chose not to use it for required…
I am a XXXX XXXX XXXX veteran. AAFES/Military Star used the Treasury Offset Program ( TOP ) to seize my XXXX federal tax refund for a private-label retail credit card debt without providing the legally required pre-offset notice under 31 U.S.C. 3716 ( c ). In early XXXX, I filed my XXXX federal tax return expecting a refund. When the refund arrived, it was significantly reduced. Upon investigation, I discovered AAFES/Military Star had offset my refund through TOP for an alleged debt on a Military Star card. I received ZERO advance written notice of the debt, the offset, or my right to dispute in direct violation of federal law. I have checked all mail, email, and spam folders. No notice was ever sent. The Military Star card is a private-label retail credit card, not a federal debt that qualifies for TOP. Using TOP for this type of debt may violate the Administrative Procedure Act and due process protections.…
On XX/XX/XXXX, {$4500.00} was taken from my federal tax refund through the Treasury Offset Program for this alleged debt. However, AAFES previously responded to a CFPB complaint stating that this account was charged off on XX/XX/XXXX and marked paid in full on XX/XX/XXXX. Despite this paid in full designation, collection activity has continued. When I contacted the collection agency servicing this account, I was informed that multiple Treasury offsets have already been applied over several years, totaling approximately {$15000.00}, in addition to the recent {$4500.00} offset. This indicates that nearly {$20000.00} has been collected on this account, yet no complete accounting has been provided, this far exceeds the original balance. I have requested a full itemized accounting of the debt, including the original balance, all transactions, payments, offsets, fees, and adjustments. Both AAFES and the collection agency have failed to provide this information clearly.…
There is not sufficient legal justification for the addition of approximately {$1100.00} in collection charges. Under 15 U.S.C. 1692f ( 1 ), a debt collector may not collect any amount unless it is expressly authorized by the original agreement or permitted by law. I request documentation showing : The original signed agreement authorizing third-party collection fees. A complete itemization of the balance, including all fees added post-charge-off. The contractual or statutory basis permitting XXXX to impose these fees. As the originating creditor, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service retains responsibility for ensuring that any third-party collection activity on its behalf complies with federal law. Referring me to XXXX does not resolve this dispute.…

A change-of-address was filed with the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX at that time . Because the notice was sent to an outdated address, I did not receive it. Complaint Title : Unfair debt collection, improper garnishment structure, and continuous interest accrual preventing account from becoming current Complaint Description : I am filing a formal complaint against the Exchange Credit Program XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ), which is a government-affiliated credit account that is currently being collected through involuntary wage garnishment via XXXX from my military retirement pay. My concern is not the existence of the debt, but the manner in which it is being collected and managed, which appears to be unfair, misleading, and structurally designed to prevent resolution of the account. Key Issues : 1. Garnishment Amount Does Not Bring Account Current My wages are being garnished monthly ; however, the amount being deducted is significantly lower than the required minimum payment and does not satisfy the past-due balance.…
To : Consumer Financial Protection Bureau XXXX : Improper Closure of Military Star Card Account Without Notice and Credit Score Harm I am filing a formal complaint regarding the Army and Air Force Exchange Service ( AAFES ) Military Star Card program for the sudden closure of my credit card account without notice and the resulting negative impact on my credit profile. I have held my XXXX XXXX XXXX account since XXXX, making it my oldest credit account. This account has been maintained for decades and represents a significant portion of my established credit history. I was not provided any prior notice that my account would be closed. I only discovered the closure after the fact. I was not informed of any delinquency or account misuse that would justify this action. The closure of this account will cause substantial harm to my credit profile by reducing the average age of my credit history and removing my longest-standing account. This will negatively impacted my credit score.…
I am disputing the accuracy of a debt previously handled by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) on behalf of AAFES ( Military Star ). The original balance was approximately {$6300.00}. Since then, a significant amount has already been paid toward this account through multiple sources, including : Wage garnishment ( approximately {$3000.00}, beginning around XX/XX/year> ) XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX ( tax refund offsets, approximately {$4000.00} ) Additional direct payments made by me Despite these payments, the current balance being reported and collected does not reflect the total amount paid and appears to be inaccurate. I have made multiple attempts to resolve this issue directly with the company, including phone calls, disputes, and written communication. However, I have not received a complete or accurate accounting of the debt.…
My account with AAFES / Military Star was previously placed with XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) for collection. On XX/XX/year>, I submitted a complaint through the CFPB regarding an incorrect balance on this account. On XX/XX/year>, I received a written response from XXXX confirming that the account has been closed in their office and returned to AAFES. Throughout this period, significant payments were made toward this account through : Federal tax refund offset in the amount of {$4600.00} Wage garnishments totaling {$3800.00} These payments appear to meet or exceed the original balance of the account. However, AAFES has not provided any documentation confirming : A complete payment history How these payments were applied The current remaining balance Whether the account has been paid in full I have requested this information but have not received any response or documentation.…
I am submitting a complaint regarding XXXX military XXXX accounts. Both accounts were fully paid off well over XXXX years ago, and the payments were made directly from my tax money through the XXXX. Despite this, both accounts are still reporting on my credit file as if they are part of a collections account. This is incorrect and is negatively impacting my credit. I am requesting that the reporting be corrected to reflect that these accounts are fully satisfied and not in collections.
I am disputing an inaccurate balance being reported and collected by XXXX XXXX XXXX. My original debt was approximately {$6100.00} from a MILITARY STAR credit account. Beginning in XX/XX/2025, I have had wage garnishments totaling approximately {$3800.00}. In addition, my federal tax refund in the amount of {$4600.00} was offset and applied toward this debt. Despite these payments totaling approximately {$8500.00}, the account currently reflects a remaining balance of {$5500.00}. The payment history shown by the company only includes partial payments starting in XX/XX/2025 and does not reflect earlier garnishments or the federal tax offset. This indicates that significant payments have not been properly applied to the account. I have already attempted to resolve this issue directly with the company and requested a full account ledger and payment history, but I have not received a complete or accurate breakdown.…
I am writing to formally address an ongoing issue regarding the seizure of my federal tax refunds by the Army & Air Force Exchange Service ( AAFES ). Over the past several years, my tax refunds have been consistently intercepted and applied to an alleged debt owed to AAFES. While I am aware of the organization, I have no knowledge or record of any outstanding debt owed to them. I have made multiple requests for verification and documentation of this alleged debt, including proof of the original obligation, account details, and any supporting records. To date, I have not received any documentation or evidence validating the existence or legitimacy of this debt. Despite my repeated attempts to resolve this matter, my tax refunds continue to be seized without proper verification or communication. This has created an ongoing financial hardship and has prevented me from receiving funds to which I may be entitled.
In accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), this creditor has violated my rights. Under 15 USC 1681 Section 602 states I have the right to privacy. 15 USC 1681 Section 604a Section 2, it also states a consumer reporting agency can not furnish an account without my written instructions. Under 15 USC 1666b, a creditor may not treat a payment on a credit card account under an open and consumer credit plan as late for any purpose.
I am submitting this complaint regarding my Military Star credit account issued by the Army & Air Force Exchange Service ( AAFES ). I have made multiple attempts to resolve this matter directly with AAFES by requesting a goodwill adjustment for late payment entries reported on my credit file. These late payments occurred during a period of significant military-related obligations while I was serving on XXXX XXXX. Despite submitting more than one request, AAFES responded with nearly identical, template-based replies that only referenced general credit reporting policies and the seven-year reporting period under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. My individual circumstances, including my active-duty service and the context surrounding the late payments, were not meaningfully addressed. I am not disputing the existence of the account.…
I am submitting this complaint regarding a debt associated with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ), which has been assigned to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) for collection. The original debt was approximately {$6000.00}. Beginning in XX/XX/XXXX, the debt has been actively repaid through involuntary garnishment of my XXXX XXXX XXXX pay. These garnishments have been substantial, ranging between approximately 50 % to 75 % of my pay. As of my most recent XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) Leave and Earnings Statement, the remaining unpaid balance is {$270.00}. However, despite continuous payments being applied through XXXX, the third-party collection agency ( XXXX ) is reporting a balance exceeding {$4200.00}. This represents a discrepancy of nearly {$4000.00} between the amount reflected by XXXX ( which is processing the payments ) and the amount being pursued by the collection agency.…
I had a credit card consolidation company set up payments to lower the interest rate, the consolidation company sent the monies that was agreed upon, the Military Star Aaffees / XXXX XXXX XXXX has been harassing me, stating I opened two accounts, I only had one, also XXXX opened the other account unbeknownst to myself for the same amount from the card which was paid off in XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, Military Star is the culprit, the issue actually started in XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, I asked them to investigate as to why they stopped receiving the monies sent by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, based in XXXX California, they refused to investigate.
I am filing this formal complaint against the third-party debt collection agency, XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) XXXX for engaging in grossly unlawful, predatory, and fraudulent collection practices. XXXX is attempting to collect on a debt that has not only been paid in full to the original creditor, the Army and Air Force Exchange Service ( AAFES ), but was confirmed by AAFES to be settled as of XX/XX/year>. Despite this, XXXX continues its harassment and has even illegally manufactured new interest charges on a zero-balance account. The conduct of XXXX is a flagrant violation of federal law, most notably the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ). Specifically : Illegal Justification of Dual Collection : XXXX has explicitly claimed that they are legally entitled to collect on this debt simultaneously while the original creditor, AAFES, is actively garnishing my wages for the very same debt.…
I am filing this urgent and severe complaint against the Army and Air Force Exchange Service ( AAFES )/ Military Star for engaging in what can now be proven as willful and illegal theft. In a direct admission, AAFES has confirmed that the original debt on my account was paid in full as of XX/XX/year>. Despite this admission and with full knowledge that no debt existed, AAFES continued to enforce a wage garnishment, unlawfully seizing an additional {$590.00} from my Leave and Earning Statement ( LES ) after the date they acknowledged the account was settled. This is not a clerical error ; it is a conscious and deliberate act of taking money they are not owed. This illegal XXXX was compounded on top of a pre-existing overpayment of {$1100.00}, which arose from prior garnishments and a U.S. Treasury tax offset. AAFES is now in illegal possession of a total of {$1700.00} of my money.…
I did not apply for this credit card, and I did not authorize it to be opened in my name. This is the second time a credit card has been opened using my information without my knowledge. I believe I am a victim of identity theft, and I am requesting that this occurrence be investigated, closed, and removed from my credit report. The bank listed is Military StarXXXX and the amount currently showing is {$1300.00}. The person who opened this account appears to have access to my personal information, including my home address, social security number, and email address connected to my account. Most of the transactions on this account appear to have been made in base at XXXX XXXX in XXXX, NC.
I tried to make settlement arrangements with a credit card debt but because I received letters from XXXX companies alleging ownership of this debt, so I have not been able to determine who is the legitimate owner of the debt. this is for an alleged debt with army & air force exchange service. I can't pay for a debt twice, so can someone please help to settle this matter, for this is severely causing me financial hardships, due to automatic is treasury garnishing my irs refunds.
fraudulent activity on my Military Star Card account. I previously contacted customer service and reported that someone had been using my card without my authorization. At that time, the representative assured me the issue would be handled, my account would be closed, and no further charges or collections would occur. Unfortunately, that does not appear to have been resolved. Funds are still being taken from my drill pay, and my entire tax refund was also taken for this account, even though I never made any purchases with the card. The only thing I ever did was activate the card before my wallet and phone were lost, which is when this situation began. I trusted that the issue had been handled when I first reported it, but clearly it was not. This has placed me in a very difficult financial position and I am now on the verge of facing homelessness due to money continuously being taken from me for charges I did not make.…

On XXXX XX/XX/XXXX I sent an email to the Army & Air Force Exchange Service ( AAFES ) Credit Program Department requesting that Servicemember Civil Relief Act ( SCRA ) benefits be applied to my account as I have been an XXXX XXXX XXXX member since XXXX XX/XX/XXXX and had opened up a line of credit with their company, approximately around XXXX XX/XX/XXXX, prior to the start of my XXXX XXXX service start date. To the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, I am filing this formal complaint to report the flagrantly illegal and predatory debt collection activities being conducted by the Army and Air Force Exchange Service ( AAFES ) and its third-party collection agency, XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ). Both entities are unlawfully pursuing a single debt that has already been substantially overpaid, and their actions constitute a coordinated campaign of financial harassment. Here is a precise breakdown of the financial facts that prove their unlawful conduct : Original Debt : {$3600.00} with AAFES/Military STAR. Verified Payments Made to AAFES : A total of {$1500.00} has been forcibly garnished from my drill Leave and Earning Statements ( LES ). On XX/XX/year>, the U.S. Treasury seized {$3200.00} from my federal tax return and delivered it to AAFES. Total Amount Collected by AAFES : AAFES is in possession of {$4700.00} of my money. This equates to an overpayment of {$1100.00}.…
