Dear Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding repeated over-limit fees charged to my credit card account over the past year. I believe these fees have been assessed improperly and have caused me significant financial hardship. Over the last XXXX months, I have been charged over-limit fees on multiple billing statements despite the fact that I have not made purchases exceeding my assigned credit limit. Based on my review of my statements, it appears that my balance has only exceeded the limit due to the addition of late fees and/or interest chargesnot because of new spending activity. Specifically, I have been charged the following amounts in overlimit fees : XX/XX/XXXX : {$82.00} XX/XX/XXXX : {$82.00} XX/XX/XXXX : {$55.00} XX/XX/XXXX : {$54.00} XX/XX/XXXX : {$33.00} The total of these charges is {$300.00}. To the best of my knowledge, I have not opted in to allow transactions that exceed my credit limit.…

XX/XX/XXXX'For XX/XX/XXXXweeks I have called, used the chat and email. I have been given the run around day after day. XX/XX/year> I paid my credit card balance in full. They told me I would not receive any fees until I use the card again. They decided mid XXXX to charge me a {$12.00} fee. They then said it would be erased. It was not then it rolled over to a late fee then that was fixed then I was taking off then it was added back now were up to {$60.00} and some change. When I called in, they told me I would not be charged fees until I use the card again yet now they keep stacking fees on there. One person says those zero the account out one person gives me the runaround. Im not paying {$12.00} maintenance fee when I dont use the account when they have agreed repeatedly that there is no fee if there is no balance.

I submitted a claim with complaint ID XXXX against XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. I closed this account on XX/XX/XXXX. Then received a letter via email & mail stating that a credit balance of {$2000.00} had been posted to my account. I continued to receive notices from XXXX regarding the account that should have been closed. I then called their customer service line on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX at approximately XXXX XXXX to ask about the current credit balance that was showing $ ( XXXX ), which I then received an email stating that was my current balance. I asked the representative how do I get the money & she stated that they would be sending me a check to the address I have on file with them. I was out of town at the time & I have just returned to check my mail on XX/XX/XXXX. The check states that it is to be void within 90 days & it has not been the XXXX days because it is dated for XX/XX/XXXX.…
Complaint against XXXX Credit Card regarding inaccurate late payment reporting I am filing a complaint against XXXX Credit Card for inaccurate credit reporting and failure to properly process a timely payment. On XX/XX/year>, I initiated at least the minimum payment on my credit card account before the due date. However, my bank has confirmed that XXXX never submitted the payment request for processing. Despite this, XXXX reversed the payment internally and did not complete the transaction. Because the payment was never actually presented to my bank, this was not a failed payment due to insufficient funds or any error on my part. It appears to be a processing or system failure on the creditor 's end. I made an additional payment on XX/XX/year>, to ensure the account was paid and to prevent further issues. Despite these facts, XXXX has reported a XXXX late payment to the credit bureaus.…
I am filing this complaint regarding ongoing debt collection activity by XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX related to an alleged consumer debt originally from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ). In or around XXXX, I previously received collection communications regarding this account and I submitted a written dispute and request for debt validation under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ). I requested a full breakdown of the balance, including principal, interest, fees, and proof of ownership of the debt. I did not receive proper validation or documentation in response. After approximately XXXX year without meaningful resolution or validation, I began receiving renewed collection communications in XXXX from XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX indicating that the account was now in their care. These communications attempted to collect payment and directed me to a payment portal.…
In XXXX, I got a XXXX account because of my home security system. They have since transitioned me to a XXXX XXXX for no reason without my approval. I can not get into my account online or on the app. i have tried multiple browsers, etc. It keeps telling me to activate my new card. I do not want to do that, and when I click " view current accounts ' the page goes blank.
On XX/XX/year> my XXXX card account issued by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX was converted to Fortiva Retail Credit account issued by TXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and was closed for further transactions on XX/XX/year>. Fortiva charged {$99.00} on XXXX, XXXX for an annual fee. I contacted Fortiva to ask why I was being charged an annual fee on a card that is closed and I can't use. I was told that it was an agreement that I made when I got the card. This is not correct because this is not an agreement I had with XXXX. Annual fees should not be charged on a card that is closed. I also was charged different amounts for late fee. I interest is not suppose to be added on accounts that are closed. {$41.00} late charge for XXXX {$30.00} late fee for XXXX {$22.00} Interest payment for XXXX {$110.00} Interest charge for XXXX {$100.00} Interest charge for XXXX {$110.00} for Interest Charges
In [ XX/XX/year> ], I purchased furniture at XXXX XXXX using XXXX XXXX. I was never told that the account was a deferredinterest program or that failing to pay the full balance within a promotional period would trigger retroactive interest. I recently discovered an {$800.00} interest charge added to my account. I contacted XXXX, and they told me the charge was because I did not finish paying during the special program, but this program was never explained to me at the time of purchase. No clear disclosure was provided verbally or in writing. I believe this is misleading financing and an unfair charge. I am requesting an investigation and removal of the {$800.00} interest added without proper disclosure.
I started my furniture loan with XXXX and they had me pay {$130.00} a month. Then without any prior notice, my loan was transferred to XXXX and they increased my monthly payment to {$190.00}. I explained to them that I should have first been given notice prior to the change and also that when I took out the initial loan, I made the purchase based on how much I could afford for the monthly payments. Its not fair to the consumer, especially with this economy, to increase the monthly payments without notice and not considering if I could afford it. I asked if they could lower my monthly payments back to {$130.00} and was told no and I'm not exactly sure why but this increase is going to cause me to default my payments on the loan and that is not fair to me when I was on time previously with payments when the loan was under XXXX.
To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting this complaint regarding the unauthorized opening of a line of credit and fraudulent charges made in my name involving XXXX and Fortiva XXXX. * * Summary of Issue : * * A charge of {$240.00} was initiated by XXXX and financed through Fortiva Credit without my knowledge or consent. I did not authorize any line of credit, nor was I notified that such an account had been opened in my name. I only became aware of this account after being contacted by Fortiva regarding a minimum payment due. * * Documented Timeline of Communications : * * * * * XX/XX/XXXX : * * Phone call with XXXX regarding the issue * * * XX/XX/XXXX : * * Follow-up phone call with Vivint * * * XX/XX/XXXX : * * Phone call with Vivint where XXXX was explicitly told the issue would be corrected, the charge removed, and I would be refunded.…
I had a credit card with a company by the name of XXXX. Due to some unexpected life problems, I was behind on my credit card payment. I had been making whatever I could make on the card to try & keep it current. Apparently on XX/XX/year>, the card was closed, & a letter stating it was closed was mailed on XX/XX/year>. My company sold & cashed out my stock plan, so I had received enough to get back on track with everything in my life, including my card. When I signed into the account on XX/XX/year>, there was an offer for a credit payment match for my card. I paid {$450.00} & XXXX matched up to 50 % ( {$220.00} ). In that statement did not show that the account was closed. It said it would be applied to my card. The company is now not wanting to work with me at all to either reopen the account or negotiate the remaining balance.…
On XX/XX/year>, XXXX agreed in writing to accept a settlement payment of {$1600.00} and to write off the remaining balance of {$1000.00} upon receipt of that payment. The required settlement payment was made in full on XX/XX/year>XXXX and has successfully cleared. Despite fulfillment of the agreed terms, the account has not been correctly updated internally to reflect a XXXX balance and the agreed write-off. While the account appears to have been updated with the credit reporting agencies, the internal account status remains incorrect. This ongoing discrepancy has created continued adverse impact and is currently preventing me from closing my account with XXXX. Over the past two months, I have made multiple phone calls to resolve this issue and was provided with three separate promised resolution dates. None of these commitments have been honored, and the matter remains unresolved.
I am filing this complaint regarding inaccurate and unverified late payment reporting on my credit file. I previously disputed this account, and the company responded by stating that late payments were reported based on their internal policies and account terms. They referenced their Cardholder Agreement and stated that payments were not received by the due date for certain billing periods, including XX/XX/year> through XX/XX/year>. However, the company failed to provide any actual documentation to support the accuracy of this reporting. Their response did not include : A complete payment history Documentation showing how the late payments were calculated Proof supporting the reversal of a payment allegedly returned for insufficient funds The method of verification used to report this information to the credit bureaus Simply explaining internal policies does not meet the requirements of a reasonable investigation under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), specifically 15 U.S.C.…
I have an XXXX credit card. It has been used quite extensively and I admit that. The problem is the fees, charges and interest are also quite extensive. I would say currently my minimum payment each month runs at or around {$70.00}, which is insane. Despite making the payments each month, my minimum payment does not decrease. In XXXX, my minimum payment was {$71.00}, in XXXX it was {$71.00}, XXXX was {$69.00}, this month 's was {$69.00} and XXXX is going to be {$71.00}. As you see, it stays consistently in the {$70.00} range, which is nuts. It was not always like this. Back in XXXX and XXXX I was only paying about {$55.00}. How it suddenly increased like it did is beyond me. I know they will probably have their excuses, their rationale, whatever, but that doesn't change the fact that they have me in a financial chokehold. Something has to give.
Apparently, sometime at the end of 2025 the company Fortiva took over a company called XXXX, that I had credit with through XXXX furniture. I received nothing by mail or email advising me or prompting me to take any action regarding this new management of my debt with XXXX financial. Starting in XXXX 2026 I received welcome emails and an email requesting that I download the Fortiva app because they are managing my debt now. It was at this time that I was informed that they calculate my balance and interest different than XXXX did and that my payment which was {$140.00} with XXXX is now {$200.00}. I have over and over spoke with customer service people and asked for supervisors explaining that I am on a fixed income absolutely unable to increase my monthly outlay by almost {$60.00} per month. They told me there is nothing they can do. This is the way their company calculates my payment and, They claim that I was advised of this takeover in plenty of time for my reaction.…
XXXX had a credit account with XXXX XXXX for over XXXX years now paying on my XXXX XXXX and payments have always been {$190.00} every month and I never missed a payment. About a month ago I got notice that XXXX XXXX wasn't contracted with XXXX XXXX anymore and that my loan had been taken over by fortiva. I called fortiva and they told me my monthly payment was now XXXX. I told her XXXX never had to pay that much all these years and she said to me well you gunna have to take that up with XXXX XXXX XXXX. very unprofessional. I never agreed to that amount and it was not the original amount I agreed to when signing the contract in XXXX. XXXX not sure if this is the right place to go but if it is please help! I havent made a payment yet and they reported me as XXXX days late now which is an impact to my XXXX XXXX.. but I never agreed to that amount! Thank you so much for your time. XXXX
This is my XXXX complaint regarding my XXXX XXXX XXXX account and reflects an ongoing pattern of inaccurate, inconsistent, and misleading responses by the company. In my first complaint, the company denied responsibility. In my second complaint, the company stated that my account had been reinstated. In my third complaint, I reported that despite this claim, I was unable to use the account, and that issue remains unresolved. The company represented that my account was reinstated, however I was denied the ability to use the card and was informed I could not make purchases until after a billing cycle. A credit card that can not be used is not meaningfully reinstated. I made a {$500.00} payment on XXXX ( posted XXXX ) in reliance on the expectation that my account would be restored to usable status. Instead, I have been deprived of access to those funds while also being unable to use the account.…
On XX/XX/XXXX I filed CFPB complaint # XXXX against XXXX ( issued by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) for violating the 25 % fee-harvester cap under 12 CFR 1026.52 ( a ) ( Regulation Z ). My initial credit limit was {$350.00}, so the maximum non-penalty fees allowed in the first year were {$87.00}. XXXX charged an {$85.00} Annual Fee ( posted XX/XX/XXXX ) plus multiple XXXX XXXX Monthly Paper Statement Fees. My attached billing statements ( XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX ) explicitly show these fees being assessed, bringing the total to at least {$89.00} {$1.00} over the federal cap. On XX/XX/XXXX XXXX responded to the CFPB and falsely stated : our records do not reflect that any such [ paper statement ] fees were assessed. This statement is demonstrably false, as the attached statements clearly list the {$2.00} paper statement fees. This is a clear violation of federal law.…
This account was settled in full. I recorded the phone call with them on the day that I settled it.And today, when they admitted that I had indeed settled this account. The problem is that I disputed the account with the credit bureaus and they validated the account is good even though the account was settled. I want the account deleted from my credit bureaus.. It's also important for them to knowI recorded the call the day I called and paid it
I had a credit card from XXXX XXXX that had XXXX interest until XX/XX/year> from XXXX XXXX. In XX/XX/year> apparently my account was switched to XXXX XXXX and I was charged extra fees, {$99.00} annual fee and {$2.00} paper fee and I began to accumulate interest. This was sent to me in an email which went to a spam folder and I wasnt aware until the next time I tried to pay my bill. Bu the time I realized it was changed I was out of the window to dispute the changes
I reached out to the Following via certified mail on XXXX XXXX in attempt to verify the following debts XXXX Bank-balance shows {$1300.00} XXXX XXXX XXXX -balance shows XXXX & {$1000.00} XXXX-balance shows that the debt was paid but is still being reported as charge off every month XXXX XXXX balance shows {$670.00} XXXX XXXX XXXXbalance shows {$910.00} XXXX XXXX XXXX have also not received a XXXX for either of the debts that are being reported monthly as a charged off. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX collection agency that bought a debt and is not the original lender is reflecting a balance of {$1000.00} & XXXX I sent them a debt validation letter and they responded- I sent back a response as they refused to correct the incorrect amount being reported as a collection and they also refused to settle on the actual debt.…
I am submitting this complaint regarding the reporting of a 30-day late payment on my XXXX account. This issue occurred during the transition of my account from XXXX to XXXX. While the account was with XXXX, I had autopay set up and consistently made my payments on time. When the account transitioned to XXXX, the existing autopay arrangement did not carry over, which resulted in a missed payment without my awareness at the time. Additionally, the original Vive account now shows as closed following the transition to XXXX, indicating that the account structure changed. This change contributed to the disruption of the previously established autopay setup and overall account continuity. As soon as I became aware of the issue, I made a significant payment toward the balance and am actively working to resolve the account. A large portion of the balance has already been paid.…
I signed up for a free trial with XXXX XXXX funded by XX/XX/XXXX and cancelled the service within the trial period. Despite cancelling properly, the company charged me and allowed a debt to be reported to my credit report. I never received the service beyond the trial and do not owe this debt. I attempted to resolve this directly with the company, spending over XX/XX/XXXXcommunicating with their customer service, without resolution. This has negatively impacted my credit due to an invalid charge. I am requesting : - Immediate removal of this account from my credit report - Refund of any improper charges- Written confirmation that the account will not be reported again I have attached documentation proving cancellation.
I have disputed this debt on my XXXX XXXX account multiple times starting in XX/XX/year> when I seen my credit was got for two cards : XXXX and XXXX. I called the company in XX/XX/year> and asked for proof that i was the one who opened it up because i was living in ny and the cards were approved for an address on XXXX XXXX. I am the victim of identity theft as reported to the ftc and the XXXX attorney general. My identity has been stolen 4 times in the last 10 years and I've done my best to flag my credit bureaus and put freezes on them but sometimes they don't always verify. Someone stole all my info and used it to open up credit in my name charging XXXX of dollars to my credit report. I cant remember the dates or times because I have short term memory loss but I have written notes on what was disputed. This isn't my account.

My credit card account showed multiple conflicting payment amounts between statements and the mobile app. The app displayed both a minimum payment and a past due amount separately, without clearly stating that both needed to be paid to avoid fees. I made a payment based on what was displayed, believing I was meeting the requirement. Despite this, I was charged {$73.00} in fees and my account was closed. The payment requirements were not clearly communicated, and this caused confusion. I am requesting a review of these fees and a goodwill adjustment.
I was a victim of identity theft. A credit card from XXXX XXXX was opened in my name with all my info. It was however activated from an unknown phone number. Used in an XXXX store in New Jersey for {$2300.00}. It has since been closed because i have refused to pay a penny. I have tried to resolve this matter without a solution

Issue : Fraud or scam / Unauthorized transactions/ Problem with a companys investigation into an existing problem I am filing this complaint against Imagine Credit Card ( issued by XXXX ) regarding unauthorized fraudulent transactions on my credit card account. The bank has closed my fraud claim multiple times without a proper investigation and continues to hold me liable for charges I did not make and a card I never received. Key facts and timeline : On XX/XX/XXXX, I had a scheduled medical appointment in XXXX XXXX from XXXX a.m. to approximately XXXXXXXX XXXX. ( full examination and preventive check-up ). I have medical records as proof. It was physically impossible for me to be at my home address receiving/activating the card and making transactions in XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX same time. On XX/XX/XXXX, I was in XXXX XXXX, ZIP XXXX, and received a delivery there. I have the delivery record. At that time, there was an attempted {$550.00} withdrawal ( declined ).…
In XX/XX/year>, my credit card was stolen and subsequently used to make unauthorized transactions in XXXX, XXXX. I do not reside in XXXX and was not present there at the time these transactions occurred. After becoming aware of the activity, I promptly reported the unauthorized charges to XXXX and initiated a fraud claim. The charges were clearly inconsistent with my normal usage patterns and location. I did not authorize any individual to use my card, nor did I participate in or benefit from these transactions. XXXX conducted a review and denied my fraud claim, stating they were unable to determine that fraud had occurred. As a result, they are holding me responsible for the balance associated with these unauthorized transactions. I believe this decision is incorrect. The transactions occurred in a location where I do not live, using a card that had been stolen.…
This complaint is a follow-up to CFPB Complaint # XXXX, filed on XX/XX/year>, regarding the closure of my XXXX XXXX XXXX account issued by XXXX and managed by Atlanticus Services Corporation. I am submitting this new complaint because the companys response to my previous CFPB complaint did not address significant discrepancies between its explanation and the actual communications I received. I am also attaching additional documentation and screenshots supporting the timeline described below. In its response, the company states that my account was permanently closed on XX/XX/year> due to payment delinquency and the account being significantly over the credit limit. However, the communications I received from the company contradict this timeline. On XX/XX/year>, I received an email from the issuer stating that my account was suspended and providing a deadline of XX/XX/year> to make a payment.…
