I financed a vehicle through CarMax Auto Finance in XX/XX/XXXX. For more than a year, I was unable to make online payments through their portal. Despite reporting this multiple times by phone, no one resolved the issue until XX/XX/XXXX, when a representative finally restored access only after I said I was considering legal action. During that time, I had to rely on their automated phone system, which frequently failed, leading to missed or delayed payments. As a XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX this created extreme hardship and directly impacted my credit. In XX/XX/XXXX, my vehicle was totaled in an accident. I submitted a GAP claim in XX/XX/XXXX and was told in XX/XX/XXXX it was denied because deferred payments were not covered something I was not made aware of when the accident occurred. I was never told I needed to cancel my GAP coverage in person to receive a refund, and I was misdirected several times when I tried to do so.

This account is being falsely reported on my consumer credit file. I dispute this debt in its entirety. I do not acknowledge this debt and the reporting entity has failed to provide any competent evidence that I have a legal obligation to pay. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( 15 U.S.C. 1681s-2 ) and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( 15 U.S.C. 1692g ), I requested validation and verification of this alleged debt. The furnisher has continued to report this account without providing proper documentation proving that the debt belongs to me. Reporting unverified or inaccurate information to the credit bureaus constitutes a violation of federal law. If the furnisher can not produce the original contract, complete payment history, and documentation showing legal assignment of the debt, this account must be immediately deleted from my credit file. I am requesting a full investigation and permanent removal of this account from all credit reporting agencies.

I am filing this complaint regarding inaccurate credit reporting and the handling of my dispute by XXXX involving late payment reporting associated with a CarMax Auto Finance account. I previously disputed the late payment reporting because it does not align with my records and I do not recognize several of the reported delinquency entries during the time period in question. I also submitted a valid Identity Theft Report through the Federal Trade Commission requesting that the disputed information be blocked pursuant to the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA 605B, 15 U.S.C. 1681c-2 ). XXXX informed me that the request did not meet the requirements for a block but refused to explain which statutory requirement had allegedly not been met. During the timeframe associated with the disputed late payments, CarMax Auto Finance documented multiple instances of returned mail and there were communication disruptions regarding the account.

Type of Complaint : Auto Loan / Financing Company : CarMax Auto Finance Issue : Late Fee / Online Payment Confusion Description of Complaint : I was charged a late fee many time after only couple days past the due date on my CarMax Auto Finance account. My payment has now been made in full. The Online Account Services Agreement mentions a grace period but does not specify its length : If you fail to make a payment within the applicable grace period, at the close of the final day of the grace period, we will assess a late charge to your account. This vague disclosure makes it unclear that a fee could be charged after only one day. Additionally, the online system required me to acknowledge my payment as late before it could be processed, which was confusing. I request : 1. Removal of the late fee as a courtesy. 2. Written confirmation that my account is in good standing. Attachments : Payment confirmation screenshot, Online Account Services Agreement pages.

When my wife and I purchased this vehicle, I had just had a XXXX transplant 6 months prior and I needed a XXXX transplant in the next 3 months. I needed a reliable car to get myself and my caregiver wife back and forth from XXXX to XXXX. I had no idea that I'd be falling prey to almost predatory lending. The payment structure of the loan ensures the first 1 to 2 years is applied strictly to interest, leaving I'm sure many many customers in similar situations. Carmax pushes their " no haggle '' policy and we were both so tired and I still sick. I would have no way of knowing that, when I agreed to the high interest rate and the predatory payment structure, I wouldn't be able to refinance later for a better rate. Carmax has no solution, I've tried 4 different other lenders. My credit is in the XXXX, so that is not an issue. Shame on Carmax, this is a bitter lesson learned, when money is already running low as it is.

CarMax Auto Finance is reporting false and misleading information about my charged-off auto loan. The account was charged off in XX/XX/XXXX, but CarMax continues to update the tradeline every month as if new delinquency is occurring. They are reporting monthly charge-off activity through XXXX, which makes the debt appear recent and extends the negative impact on my credit. I asked CarMax to provide documentation showing the correct date of first delinquency, the charge-off details, and an accurate accounting. They did not provide any validation. Instead, they continue furnishing monthly updates, reporting the entire balance as past due, and showing contradictory statuses ( charged off but also active/past due ). This is false representation of the debt and ongoing misreporting. It harms my credit by making the account appear newly delinquent even though no payments or activity have occurred since XXXX.

I am filing this complaint regarding inaccurate credit reporting by CarMax Auto Finance related to a vehicle that was ultimately repurchased by CarMax due to repeated mechanical and system failures. Shortly after purchasing the vehicle, it experienced ongoing defects and multiple service failures that rendered it unreliable and unsafe to operate. After repeated repair attempts and being placed in XXXX loaner cars, CarMax completed a full buyback of the vehicle because it was defective. Because the transaction was rescinded through the buyback, the associated financing agreement should not have been reported as a completed or closed loan. However, CarMax Auto Finance continues to report this account on my credit report, which has negatively impacted my credit score. This reporting is inaccurate and misleading because I did not receive the benefit of a functioning vehicle and the underlying transaction was reversed due to defects present at the time of sale.

I am filing a complaint against CarMax Auto Finance regarding the servicing and accounting of my auto loan following a total loss accident. My vehicle was declared a total loss on XX/XX/XXXX. This submission is a formal escalation and follow-up to my fourth complaint ( CFPB ID XXXX ). Despite four complaints regarding the same servicing conduct, the challenged delinquency advancement practice continues without correction or meaningful explanation. On XX/XX/year>, I made a payment of {$250.00}. On XX/XX/year>, the account reflected as current. That payment was later reversed. Following the reversal, the account was advanced to 38 days past due and now reflects {$900.00} as past due internally, along with late charges. This development directly reinforces the core issue raised in my prior complaints : The servicer advances delinquency using strict calendar-day calculations, The delinquency counter is accelerated immediately upon internal recalculation, and Subsequent billing cycles appear to be pulled forward and stacked into the past due figure.

On XX/XX/2026, I sent a formal written demand letter to CarMax Auto Finance regarding a vehicle repossession dispute. The letter requested a substantive written response and provided a ten ( 10 ) business day deadline, which expired on XX/XX/2026. Instead, I received only a generic acknowledgment directing me to call a Resolution Specialist by phone and stating that the matter could not be addressed in writing. This response did not address the issues raised, did not provide any explanation or documentation, and did not constitute a good-faith response. My demand letter expressly requested that all communications be conducted in writing due to the legal nature of the dispute.
