I was accidentally enrolled in MoneyLions XXXX XXXX XXXX membership due to a confusing and misleading user interface in their app. The enrollment process was not clear, and at no point did the app clearly explain that I was agreeing to a locked-in two-month commitment period with recurring membership fees. I never intended to join or pay for this service. When I attempted to cancel, MoneyLion provided contradictory information. I was told that I could request a refund, but I was also told that the fees are non-refundable. I was further told that if I cancel now, they would remove my banking information, which would then make it impossible to process a refund. This effectively forces consumers to keep the account open and continue paying for a service they never intended to use. These practices are confusing, inconsistent, and appear deliberately difficult.

CFPB, On reviewing my recent bank activity, I noticed a {$19.00} charge from MoneyLion that I did not authorize and do not understand. I currently do not have an active XXXX XXXX XXXX membership or loan w ith MoneyLion. According to MoneyLions website, this {$19.00} fee is associated with their XXXX XXXX XXXX membership plan, but I am not enrolled in that program and have not received any notice, email, or in-app message indicating that I would be billed. I also have not used their credit builder services recently, nor did I sign up for any paid membership. This makes the charge appear to be unauthorized or improper billing activity. There should not have been any membership fee charged to my account when no active membership or service exists.

The confirmation emails I receive stated that my repayment amounts were {$100.00} and {$10.00} respectively, and I make a deliberate effort to ensure that I do not consent to tipping MoneyLion, and verifying the repayment amounts on the confirmation screens. The emails also state " Please note that the repayment amount includes any tips and fees '' so I lead to believe I was in the clear. On XX/XX/year>, I receive a confirmation email that a {$110.00} repayment was successfully made, and I see the charge made to my debit card. On XX/XX/year>, I receive a confirmation email that a {$1.00} repayment was made, and I see the charge made to my debit card. On XX/XX/XXXX, MoneyLion confirmed in writing that payment authorization had been successfully revoked. Despite this written confirmation, MoneyLion continued charging my checking account from XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX without authorization. These included 12 transactions of {$19.00} and 9 transactions of {$9.00}, totaling {$320.00}. These charges occurred after explicit written revocation of authorization. I relied on MoneyLions confirmation that all payment authorization had been removed. I later contacted MoneyLion again regarding these unauthorized charges, but did not receive a resolution or response despite multiple follow-ups and a reasonable deadline for response. These unauthorized withdrawals also resulted in overdraft or insufficient funds fees assessed by my bank, which I am still in the process of fully itemizing.

I was the account holder his checks were just getting deposited to my account due to personal reasons which had been approved from The Veterans Administrations. We always know that the deposit will be here anytime from then until the XXXX of every month. Monday the XXXX if XXXX I received a notification through moneylion retention center stating that my account was suspended due to unsuspicious activity. Which I knew it probably had something to do with the deposit not being in my name.

I am filing this complaint against MoneyLion for unauthorized enrollment, deceptive business practices, and predatory lending. I was searching for a short term loan on a third party website. I believed I was applying for a {$500.00} loan on that website. My personal information including my Social Security number and bank routing number was collected on that website and apparently shared or sold to MoneyLion without my knowledge or consent. The {$500.00} loan I applied for never materialized instead MoneyLion used my information to enroll me in a credit builder loan, a completely different product that I never applied for, never wanted, and never agreed to. I never intentionally signed up for anything with MoneyLion. My information was transferred to them without my knowledge and used to lock me into a financial product against my will.

For starters, I was never given a loan, so I do not understand what I was making payments toward in the first place. Despite not receiving any loan funds, I still made payments and eventually paid the balance in full because I wanted to handle the matter responsibly and avoid any further issues. However, even after the account was paid off, it continued to remain on my credit report. Not only was it still being reported, but it also caused my XXXX XXXX to drop by XXXX points. This has negatively affected my credit and has created unnecessary stress and financial hardship for me. I need this matter investigated and corrected immediately. Since I never received a loan, I should not have been charged or required to make payments at all. I am requesting that this account be removed or updated correctly on my credit report so that my score can be restored. In addition, I want a full refund of all the money I paid to be deposited back into my bank account as soon as possible.

When they froze my account without warning it caused extreme financial hardship for me. It was all the money I had left for the following weeks, plus because my direct deposits went there and it was close to the end of the month I went through XXXX and part of XXXX without pay as well. No bills paid. No way to buy food or diapers. It was a living XXXX nightmare.

Since submitting the documents, we have made multiple attempts to follow up, including two phone calls to customer service, two chat inquiries, and a reply to the original email used to submit documentation. Despite these efforts, we have not received any meaningful update or communication regarding the status of this request. The account in question was closed by MoneyLion prior to them being notified of my fathers passing, and as a result, we have been unable to access, transfer, or use the funds in any way.

In haste I borrowed money out of my insta cash for the month of XX/XX/year> which is usually due at the end of the month of XXXX, but to my surprise, once again after totally repaying for the month of XXXX, the XXXX XXXX I borrowed was due XX/XX/year> at the beginning of the month, instead of at the end of the month of XX/XX/year>, this new due date was only a few days after I paid off the previous month of XX/XX/year>. I'm very disappointed to see this happen once again. This is a corrupt tactic that this company uses against it's clients and app users. The app is inconsistent with its automated due date system and it is programmed to deceive clients in to relaxing their concentration when borrowing their insta cash right after paying off the previous month. Moneylion has put me in a bad position for the month of XXXX because I do not have the money and I get paid at the end of the month.

I requested a copy of the signed loan agreement, as I was unsure of the nature of this loan, and I was told that due to my account being closed I was unable to receive a copy of this agreement. In the email from MoneyLion it states that if I'd like to request written explanation about how they calculated what I owe, that I may call customer service or write to their address. Since that time, I have made multiple written requests for this documentation, including a formal follow-up demand with a defined response deadline. I also verified my identity multiple times at the companys request and contacted customer support to follow up. Despite these efforts, MoneyLion has not provided any of the requested documentation. They have not supplied any records, data, or evidence demonstrating how they concluded that the transactions were authorized.

I was also reassured, that XXXX would not be able to withdraw any more funds, from my MoneyLion account. On XX/XX/year>, I received an alert that {$79.00} was withdrawn from my MoneyLion account, by XXXX. I immediately contacted customer service, and informed them of the issue. The first agent I spoke to, opened my account and confirmed, that there was a stop payment order in place against XXXX And she would retrieve a supervisor immediately. I was told that therere supervisor was currently in another call, and that he would contact me within an hour. That hour came and went, thus I called MoneyLion to see why the hold up was. The next agent placed me on hold, and about a half hour later said the supervisor was on the line.

On XX/XX/year>, I paid off my XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX in full. I received a Loan payoff confirmation email from MoneyLion on XX/XX/XXXX stating that I had paid off my XXXX XXXX XXXX and that my XXXX XXXX Account funds would be sent to my selected account. Despite this, MoneyLion/ML XXXX is still reporting this account as a chargeoff with an outstanding balance of {$270.00} and pastdue amount to the credit bureaus. This information is inaccurate and misleading. I have bank records and MoneyLions own payoff confirmation showing the loan was paid off on XX/XX/year> and the balance should be {$0.00}. On XX/XX/year>, I spoke with a MoneyLion representative named XXXX ( heavy XXXX accent ) at approximately XXXXXXXX XXXX I informed him that the reporting was false and that I had already disputed it. He told me that MoneyLion would continue to dispute the dispute with the credit reporting companies and would not correct the reporting until 45 days had passed.

MoneyLion has placed a restrictive hold on my XXXX account, effectively freezing my access to my primary source of income. The funds in the account consist solely of my standard corporate payroll direct deposits from my employer. Despite providing my valid government-issued photo ID and an official bank statement as proof of address, MoneyLion is demanding " third-party verification '' that is logistically impossible to provide for a payroll deposit. Specifically, they are requesting a notarized letter and a personal photo ID " selfie '' from my employer 's payroll department/provider. When I explained that this is a corporate payroll deposit and not a personal transfer from an individual, MoneyLion responded with automated scripts and threatened to hold my funds for a " dormancy period '' of XXXX to XXXX years before turning them over to the state as unclaimed property. This is an unconscionable withholding of earned wages.

I am filing this complaint regarding MoneyLions refusal to release {$100.00} from my Credit Reserve account and issues related to a Credit Builder loan that I was unable to cancel. Over the past three weeks, XX/XX/year>, to today XX/XX/year>, I have contacted MoneyLion multiple times via email and phone. To be specific, I have 17 emails that I sent and two phone calls. The phone calls were both today XX/XX/year>. Each time I was given different instructions, all of which I followed. After complying with their requests, the company stopped responding to my emails and failed to return a promised phone call from today. So my second phone call today, I finally reached a representative, again, and to my surprise, because none of the other 18 times I spoke to a representative they never mentioned this, I was told I must open a separate XXXX account to access my own funds.
