I am a homeowner who was sold a solar system by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ), a company that has since gone out of business and filed for bankruptcy, leaving thousands of customers with systems that never worked. My system never produced power, never passed inspection, and was never made operational. Despite this, XXXX financing companyhas continued to harass me for years through mail, text, email, and phone calls demanding full payment for a nonfunctional system they know can not be repaired because the installer is bankrupt. According to public records and consumer protection attorneys, XXXX XXXX collapse left homeowners with no support, no repairs, and no functioning systems, and the FTC XXXX XXXX allows consumers to assert the same claims against the lender that they could have asserted against the seller. XXXX continued collection efforts on a dead, nonoperational system are unfair, abusive, and violate the spirit of consumer protection laws
I am writing to formally dispute the terms and circumstances surrounding my solar loan and installation agreement associated with LoanPal ( now XXXX ) and XXXX, which was sold through a representative of XXXX ( now defunct ). At the time of sale, the XXXX salesperson presented a significantly lower monthly payment than what was actually included in the executed loan agreement. We were told the payment would be approximately {$99.00} per month, and the salesperson even provided documentation reflecting this amount and advised us to keep it. However, after signing, that document was no longer available, and the finalized agreement reflected a payment of approximately {$170.00} per month for the first 18 months, increasing to approximately {$230.00} thereafter. Critically, the structure of the loan was not clearly or honestly explained.…
Around XXXX, I got into a home improvement financing agreement through GoodLeap, contracted by XXXX XXXX co, for roofing, gutters, and chimney work. The XXXX failed to complete a significant portion of the work, including all gutters, downspouts, and chimney rebuild, and has since gone out of business. They roofing company also explained that they do not do drywall and electrical but left the house on the inside a complete mess, looked like someone fell through the roof creating a giant hole where it was leaking through onto the XXXX floor and left wires hanging, electrical wires exposed and they only fixed the hole in the kitchen and that was it. Despite the work never being completed, I was charged the full loan amount, and the account has now been sent to collections for over {$56000.00}. This loan includes charges for work that was never completed. I am disputing the validity of this debt under the FTC Holder Rule and due to breach of contract and failure of consideration.
Since closing case # XXXX, GoodLeap has engaged in physical retaliation. An agent trespassed on my property in XXXX XXXX, and placed a physical padlock on my solar AC disconnect. This is a life-safety Rapid Shutdown device. Per XXXX XXXX, this switch must be readily accessible to first responders. By padlocking it, GoodLeap created a fire hazard for my family and the community. Furthermore, they were so negligent they left the combination on the neck of the lock. This physical sabotage, combined with their previous admission of " coding errors '' and on-going calls to my co-signer from spoofed numbers ( XXXX ), constitutes a pattern of willful, abusive collection practices and a level of incompetence of historic proportions.
XXXX. The solar system associated with this financing was installed by XXXX XXXX XXXX, later acquired by XXXX XXXX. The system has never functioned as represented and required extensive troubleshooting efforts after installation. XXXX. XXXX XXXX acknowledged performance issues after taking over the account. Despite prolonged troubleshooting, the system continues to experience functionality problems. XXXX. During installation, a hole was created in my roof, causing water intrusion along a structural beam, resulting in freezing, thawing, and interior leakage. This constitutes property damage directly related to the installation. XXXX. I was never provided a complete executed copy of the loan or financing agreement. I was instructed to electronically sign partial documentation with the promise that full contract documents would follow. They never did. XXXX.…

I am submitting this complaint regarding the servicing and collection practices of GoodLeap, LLC related to a solar loan account. The primary borrower on this account, XXXX XXXX, passed away. GoodLeap has received and confirmed the death certificate. Despite this, the company continues to send communications addressed to the deceased borrower. Following the loss of the primary income in the household, I proactively contacted GoodLeap to request hardship or bereavement assistance in order to avoid delinquency. I was explicitly informed that no assistance or review could be provided unless the account first became delinquent. I continued making payments for as long as financially possible. Once I was no longer able to continue, I again requested assistance. At that point, the company began offering assistance programs, including options with no initial payment, which contradicts their earlier statements that no review was possible without payment.…
In XX/XX/XXXX, I entered into a {$55000.00} home improvement loan with GoodLeap as a new homeowner. On XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted the contractor to cancel the program before work proceeded. Despite this, the project continued. The work that was completed was limited to flooring, painting, and smoothing walls in my living room and two bedrooms. The work was incomplete and raised safety concerns, as electrical outlets were left open without proper covering or wiring. When I contacted the contractor about this, I was told it was not part of the walls, which was not clearly disclosed beforehand. The contract provided lists a total project cost of {$76000.00} and includes a mini split as part of the scope of work ; however, a mini split was never installed. Additionally, I made a {$1000.00} cash down payment that is not reflected or accounted for in any documentation.…
This company called GoodLeap has been calling me excessively for almost a year in maybe XXXX or XXXX. There was a point over the summer of XXXX where I was getting XXXX calls per day from them, along with texts every now and then. They always address me as some mans name that I do not know which I have told them I am not that person. I have spoken with multiple employees, XXXX multiple times, explaining that I am not the man they are trying to contact and that I have never used their company before and dont owe them money. They understand this yet still continue to badger me with calls. I can not even answer unknown callers such as hiring recruiters, family members calling from a different number, or other companies that I am expecting calls from but do not have their number saved. My sleep has been disturbed on many occasions due to unexpected calls from these people but I can not always keep my phone on do not disturb do to family members needing to reach me in emergencies.…
I have an outstanding loan with GoodLeap. I contacted GoodLeap and requested that they cease all phone contact and continue collection efforts via mail or email only. Despite this request, GoodLeap has continued to call me by phone. On XX/XX/year>, I received a call from ( XXXX ) XXXX, which displayed on my caller ID as " XXXX XXXX, '' a staffing company completely unrelated to GoodLeap. When I answered, it was GoodLeap 's collections department. This is caller ID spoofing, they deliberately disguised their number as another business to trick me into answering after I had asked them to stop calling. Additionally, on XX/XX/year>, GoodLeap 's collections department sent me an email requesting that I simply reply with my zip code to authorize a {$160.00} withdrawal from my checking account. There was no secure payment link, no written authorization form, and no disclosure of terms.…
Complaint Financing Tied to Misrepresented Roofing Warranty ( GoodLeap / XXXX XXXX XXXX Dear Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, I am submitting this complaint regarding financing arranged through GoodLeap in connection with a roofing contract with XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX, Kentucky. The financing was presented to me as part of a bundled transaction that included a roofing system and warranty. The warranty portion alone was represented at a cost of approximately {$9700.00}, which I have since learned appears to be significantly inflated compared to typical market value ( estimated under {$500.00} ). At the time of the transaction, this pricing was presented as standard and necessary. The financing was offered simultaneously with the sales process, and I was not provided with a clear or transparent breakdown that would allow me to evaluate the true value of the warranty or compare alternatives. The agreement was signed on an XXXX and i was not given a copy after repeated requests.…
I was sold solar panels during the selling process. They advise that my electricity bill will go down to like XXXX or {$30.00} and I will pay at most {$120.00} for the solar panels which wouldve been less than my electricity bill. What has happened? Is that my solar panels and the bill that Im getting from the power company is more when you add them together than what I was paying previously nor was I told that I would have a lien on my property because I had solar panels put on the property.
I am filing a complaint regarding a solar loan issued by GoodLeap that is tied to a system installed at my home which is currently unsafe, non-operational, and under investigation for causing electrical damage. Shortly after installation, a significant electrical issue occurred at my residence, including sparking and failure of the main electrical panel, which required replacement. A licensed electrician has been involved, and the solar system has since been disconnected and is not operational. The installation and interconnection method are currently under investigation, and there are serious concerns that the system may have been improperly installed and contributed to the electrical failure. My homeowners insurance and other parties are involved in evaluating the damage and liability.…
In XX/XX/XXXX, I entered into a solar loan agreement in the amount of approximately {$45000.00} through GoodLeap ( formerly Loanpal ) for a residential solar system installed by XXXX XXXX XXXX. During the sales process, I was led to believe that the solar system would significantly reduce my electric bill, with representations that it could be reduced by approximately 90 %. This expectation was a primary factor in my decision to proceed with the loan. After installation, my electric bills did not decrease anywhere near the level represented. I have continued to pay both a monthly solar loan and ongoing electric bills. On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX filed for XXXX XXXX bankruptcy and is no longer available to provide service or support for the system. In XX/XX/XXXX, my XXXX monitoring system indicated that the solar system stopped communicating and is currently producing no energy. As a result, I am making payments on a system that is not operational.…
I am filing a complaint regarding a misapplied ( or unapplied ) loan payment by GoodLeap related to a solar loan I assumed during a home purchase. At closing on XX/XX/year>, the title company issued a principal reduction payment in the amount of {$13000.00} to GoodLeap on my behalf. This payment was intended to reduce the outstanding balance of the solar loan associated with the property. As of today, more than one month later, this payment has not been applied to my loan balance. I have contacted GoodLeap multiple times and was informed that a ticket has been opened ; however, I have not received any clear explanation regarding the status or location of these funds.…
In 2023 I financed a solar panel installation through GoodLeap for approximately {$41000.00}. The installer was XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ). Shortly after installation, the solar system was not functioning properly. I attempted to contact the installer several times, but the company stopped responding and later went out of business. I contacted GoodLeap to report that the system was not working and asked for assistance. I was told that I would need to find another company to repair the system. As a result, I had to hire another solar company and paid {$1800.00} to repair and make the system operational. In addition, loose mounting bolts from the solar installation caused damage to my roof. I had to hire a roofing contractor to secure the solar mounts and repair the roof, which cost {$1200.00}. The contractor documented the issue with photos and video showing loose bolts from the solar installation.…
escrow accounting, and all other account details, they refuse to provide the information. I have reported the same issue multiple times, however they fail to comply. They just keep saying they need more time, or that my account is in the process of being transferred. They were over 2 months late paying my homeowners insurance, they lied several times about sending payments. I even tried to remind them in advance, because they consistently fail to pay bills on time. They have no way for me to access my account online, they don't allow telephone calls. This is getting out of hand. I am tired of there lies and deception. You need to quit just closing my complaint without resolution.
In 2022 my wife and I purchased a residential solar system installed by XXXX XXXX and financed through GoodLeap. The system was presented during the in-home sales process as producing approximately 105 % of our annual electricity usage and as qualifying for approximately 30 % federal tax incentives that would substantially reduce the effective cost of the system. During the sales presentation we were shown projections suggesting the federal tax credit would be approximately {$30000.00} and could be applied toward the loan balance. In practice, the federal tax credit depends on individual tax liability and can not necessarily be realized in the manner presented during the sales process. As a result, the credit we were able to claim was significantly lower and spread across multiple tax years rather than being available as a single lump sum. Additionally, the system has not consistently eliminated our electricity bills as suggested during the sales presentation.…
In XX/XX/year>, I had XXXX solar panels installed at my home through XXXX XXXX. The system was sold to me by salesperson XXXX XXXX, who stated that the solar system would eliminate my electric bill. This promise was a major factor in my decision to proceed with the solar installation and the financing arranged through GoodLeap. However, I was not provided with any written production estimate or savings analysis to support that claim. After installation, I continue to receive significant electric bills in addition to my monthly solar loan payment. The system has not performed as represented. I contacted the installer to address the issue but did not receive a satisfactory resolution. I have since filed complaints with the Texas Attorney General and the XXXX XXXX XXXX I also contacted GoodLeap and requested a review and investigation of the loan due to the sales representations made during the transaction.…
To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding a solar transaction financed by GoodLeap and sold and installed by XXXX, which has caused me substantial financial harm and appears to involve multiple instances of misrepresentation and deceptive practices. I entered into this solar financing agreement in XX/XX/XXXX, with the understanding that the system would reduce my electricity costs, provide utility-related discounts, offer battery storage benefits, and qualify for federal tax credits. These representations were a primary factor in my decision to enter into the financing agreement. Since entering into the agreement, I have made ongoing monthly payments toward the solar loan financed through GoodLeap. While the exact total is still being calculated, these payments represent several XXXX dollars spent on a system that has failed to deliver the promised benefits.…
I financed a solar system through GoodLeap. The installer, XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, has filed XXXX XXXX XXXX and can no longer honor the XXXX workmanship, roof penetration, or mechanical warranties, nor provide any service or repairs. My system is also not working properly. When I contacted GoodLeap, they told me to find a solar repair company on my own, even though the contractor they funded is in bankruptcy and can not perform. My contract states that XXXX bankruptcy is an automatic default by the seller, and the system is no longer the product I contracted for. GoodLeap continues to bill me for a loan tied to a defective and unsupported system. Under the FTC Holder Rule, GoodLeap is responsible for seller misconduct. I am requesting full loan cancellation.
To Whom It May Concern, On XX/XX/XXXX, I initiated a balance payoff from my XXXX XXXX XXXX account to satisfy my obligation prior to the expiration of the promotional period. I was informed that a wire transfer was not an available option through your company, so a cashiers check was issued and mailed to the address provided by GoodLeap. Between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted your customer service lines multiple times to confirm receipt of the cashiers check at the street address provided to me by your representatives. Despite these efforts, I was advised that the check had not been received as of XX/XX/XXXX. To prevent further delay and to ensure timely payment, I placed a stop payment on the cashiers check and immediately proceeded with payment via my checking account. On XX/XX/XXXX, I authorized full payment by phone using my checking account via ACH.…
In XX/XX/XXXX, I raised a dispute regarding a solar loan issued by GoodLeap in connection with a residential solar installation arranged through the contractor XXXX ( formerly XXXX ). The system was misrepresented at the point of sale and has not performed as promised. Following installation, the property experienced roof leaks and damage associated with the installation. Since XX/XX/XXXX, I have made multiple attempts to resolve this matter directly with GoodLeap. These efforts included repeated written communications, requests for documentation, and escalation through prior CFPB complaints. Despite these efforts, the underlying issues have not been resolved. While GoodLeap eventually corrected a separate filing issue after regulatory escalation, the core dispute remains unresolved. The solar system has not functioned as represented, the installation resulted in documented roof damage, and the loan remains active despite the defective and misrepresented transaction.…
We believe we were misled and deceived by a solar sales representative who stated he had a personal connection to, and exclusively used, GoodLeap for solar financing. During the sales process, the representative explicitly told us that, based on the number of solar panels we would receive, our system would fully offset our electric usage and eliminate our electric bill entirely. That representation was false. After installation, our electric bill did not go away. Instead, we have only seen a minimal reduction of approximately {$11.00} {$18.00} per month. We are now paying over {$100.00} per month for electricity in addition to a XXXX XXXX monthly solar loan payment. The solar financing agreement through GoodLeap was for {$38000.00} at an APR of 4.99 % for 25 years. We have made every payment on time since 2024 and have never missed a payment.…
I am filing a complaint against GoodLeap, LLC regarding a solar financing agreement ( Loan Agreement No. XXXX ) for a system purchased from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. My attorney has already sent GoodLeap a formal Notice of Claim and a Demand for Arbitration, but GoodLeap has not resolved the matter. 1. Misrepresentation of System Cost and Hidden Dealer Fee According to my attorneys letter, the purchase agreement states that the cost of the system was {$50000.00}. However, I was never told that GoodLeap withheld a large dealer fee from the loan proceeds instead of paying the full amount to the contractor. The letter states : My clients were not informed that there was a huge loan origination fee included in the price of the system we believe the fee in this case to be in an amount in excess of 20 % of the entire cost of the system this fee was never sent to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and was instead retained at the time of funding by GoodLeap.…

I am filing this complaint against GoodLeap, LLC regarding XXXX solar installation loans totaling {$47000.00} financed through GoodLeap in XXXX. The solar systems were sold by XXXX XXXX XXXX, which has since ceased operations. As the loan holder, GoodLeap is liable for my claims against the seller under the FTC Holder Rule ( 16 CFR 433 ), which is expressly referenced in both loan agreements. I am filing this complaint regarding a lien that GoodLeap wrongfully recorded against my property for a debt that is not associated with my home. The financed work associated with this XXXX was performed for my neighbors property, not mine. However, GoodLeap recorded the lien against my property address and title. As a result, my property has been encumbered by a lien that I never authorized and for a loan that I did not take out. This error has been known to GoodLeap for months. Despite notifying the company and requesting correction, the XXXX remains attached to my property. GoodLeap recently attempted to submit a XXXX termination to XXXX XXXX ; however, the filing was rejected because the document was missing required information and the payment submitted did not cover the full recording fees. I am filing a complaint regarding a solar loan financed through GoodLeap that is tied to unresolved installer misconduct by XXXX XXXX. I paid XXXX XXXX {$3100.00} for the removal of solar panels so that roof repairs could be completed. The service was later canceled, and I was guaranteed a full refund of the {$3100.00}. XXXX XXXX issued a refund check ; however, when I deposited the check it was returned by my bank for non-sufficient funds on XX/XX/year>. Since that time, I have made multiple attempts to resolve this issue directly with XXXX XXXX, but they have stopped responding to communications and have not corrected the unpaid refund. I notified GoodLeap and provided documentation, including proof of payment, the refund check, and confirmation from my bank that the check was returned for insufficient funds. GoodLeap acknowledged the seriousness of the issue and stated that my case is still open.…
