I am writing to formally report a Sallie Mae Loan servicing error that resulted in duplicate ACH payments and immediate financial harm, and to request an expedited reversal. On Tuesday, XX/XX/year>, I submitted online payments through the Sallie Mae website for eight ( 8 ) loans. After completing the full payment workflowincluding selecting the loan ( s ), confirming the bank account, and submitting the paymentthe system returned me to a screen stating that I still owed payments, with no indication that payments were pending or had been submitted. Relying on the information presented by the system, I submitted second payments. I later discovered that both sets of payments were processed.…
I am filing a formal complaint against Sallie MaeXXXX for XXXX credit reporting, payment processing failures, harassment, and mismanagement of my Reduced Payment Program that began in XX/XX/year>. Since entering the program, I have made every required reduced payment. However, Sallie Mae repeatedly failed to process my scheduled future paymentseven though the payment schedule was created by them. These failures occurred without notification, causing false delinquencies. Specifically : For XXXX, XXXX, and XX/XX/year> I was enrolled in the Reduced Payment Program and made my payments. Sallie Mae nevertheless reported these months as late/non-payment to the credit bureaus. During summer XXXX, Sallie Mae unexpectedly canceled all my scheduled future payments without informing me, causing additional account errors. On XX/XX/year>, Sallie Mae rejected my scheduled payment but still marked me as past due, despite the failure being entirely on their end.…
In XXXX XXXX XXXX, I was scheduled an auto debit payment to Sallie Mae for the amount of {$730.00}. I spoke with my account manager a Sallie Mae agent/ representative who told me that I could cancel my auto debit payment for that day on XX/XX/XXXX, and reschedule it for a later date. Once rescheduled for a later date ( XX/XX/XXXX ), the auto debit still went through and overdrafted me in fees of {$120.00} ( in the form of courtesy fees ) which Sallie Mae is now not trying to payback. The payment was still scheduled for the XXXX of XXXX and no one wanted to take the blame. It was the account managers fault at Sallie Mae, who told me the wrong information which resulted in a payment that wasnt supposed to take place. Also I spoke with a manager at Sallie Mae who pulled the call and claimed that the auto debit was not cancelled, and if it was cancelled, I could have received my refund.…
This complaint concerns my private student loan with Sallie Mae Bank ( originated XXXX XXXX, about {$21000.00} ). As of XX/XX/XXXX, I attempted to download loan statements and obtain a copy of my signed promissory note/credit agreement to verify the legality and accuracy of the terms being enforced. I can not obtain the agreement or complete historical statements from Sallie Mae. I am currently about XXXX months past due, after years of trying to remain current during and after the pandemic. In XXXX XXXX, when I asked for help, multiple Sallie Mae representatives stated they will not discuss hardship options or any assistance unless I first bring the account fully current. This has created a XXXX : without assistance, the high interest and fees continue to accumulate ; and without a very large income, it is not feasible to cure the delinquency in XXXX payment. As a result, my balance has grown from ~ {$21000.00} to nearly {$40000.00}, despite my efforts to maintain good standing.…

My student loans came due a few years ago - I called and chatted with them multiple times to set up a payment plan. At the time I was not working due to a injury so my income was limited and they told me I could not afford a payment through the payment plan and they could not offer me a payment plan when the whole reason for a payment plan is because you can not afford the original payment but to them because I also had bills to pay for what income was coming in I couldnt afford to do their payment plan based on income with the loans I had- this occurred for loans my mother was a co-signer on. She was on numerous of these calls due to being the co-signer and having to agree for the payment plan. She is now being sued for these loans that we were not allowed to have a payment plan on.
Since graduating college in XXXX, I've had many unstable job positions. But during everything, I've been able to pay my monthly loans. However, I was recently let go in XXXX and took on a part time job which cut my income in half. I reached out to Sallie Mae to let them know what happened and how this would affect my loans. I asked for a temporary pause so I can get myself together. I can't afford my basic needs because I spend it all paying my loans for a college degree I got and I'm not even working in the field or a full time job. The part time job ended now XXXX and I'm expected to pay double the amount that I was already struggling to pay. It sucks because I have a co-signer but they can't even help.
I am formally complaining about Sallie Mae Banks refusal to release my funds and their claim that I am not the rightful account owner. I have already provided all required documents, including my government ID, Social Security card, and notarized identity verification, as requested. Despite this, my access to my account is still being denied without clear justification. Sallie Mae has also stated they contacted someone with the same name as mine, which I believe has led to a mistaken identity error. Under the GrammLeachBliley Act ( GLBA ), financial institutions must protect and correctly handle customer personal information. I believe my information may have been mismanaged or incorrectly matched to another person. I request : Immediate verification of my identity Release of my funds. If this is not resolved quickly, I will escalate and pursue legal action if necessary.
I am submitting this complaint regarding ongoing issues with financial aid processing, loan certification delays, and improper application of student loan funds at XXXXXXXX XXXX I am an in-persoXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX financial aid and private student loan approvals are directly tied to my active enrollment and cost of attendance. I was approved for private student loan funding through Sallie Mae for designated academic sessions within the XXXX to XXXX aid year. These loans were requested and approved based on my enrollment in specific sessions, including my XXXX session, with the expectation that funds would be certified and disbursed accordingly and in a timely manner. However, there have been multiple issues that remain unresolved : An additional {$4000.00} loan was requested specifically for the current XXXX to XXXX aid year and corresponding session. I have not received clear confirmation that this loan has been properly certified or disbursed.…
I am submitting this complaint regarding inaccurate credit reporting by Sallie Mae related to a student loan account affected by a Servicemembers Civil Relief Act ( SCRA ) misapplication. From XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX, my account accrued interest at approximately 10.25 %, despite being eligible for the SCRA interest rate cap of 5 %. Sallie Mae has since confirmed this error and applied the SCRA benefit retroactively, including a credit adjustment of approximately {$510.00}. During this period, I made consistent monthly payments toward interest. Based on the corrected SCRA rate, the appropriate monthly interest obligation was significantly lower than what was charged. As a result, my payments were consistent with, and in many cases exceeded, the correct obligation. Despite this correction, Sallie Mae reported my account as 60 days past due on XX/XX/XXXX. These delinquencies were based on an inflated balance resulting from the incorrect interest calculation.…
I am listed as a cosigner on a Sallie Mae private student loan. I never signed any cosigner agreement in writing. I verbally acknowledged awareness of the loan but never provided a written or electronic signature authorizing me as a cosigner. I contacted Sallie Mae twice by phone requesting proof of my signed cosigner agreement and never received any documentation. They have failed to produce any signature, contract, or electronic consent record. This account is now reporting 60 days late on my credit report, which is damaging my credit despite the fact that I have no verified legal obligation to this loan. I am requesting that Sallie Mae provide a copy of the original signed cosigner agreement. If they can not produce one, I am requesting that this account be removed from my credit report immediately. I have also submitted disputes with all three credit bureaus.
I am filing a formal complaint regarding multiple student loan accounts being reported by Sallie Mae Inc. that were opened without my knowledge or consent. The accounts in question include : - Account opened on or about XX/XX/XXXX, with a balance of approximately {$32000.00} - Account opened on or about XX/XX/XXXX, with a balance of approximately {$11000.00} - Account opened on or about XX/XX/XXXX, with a balance of approximately {$11000.00} All of these accounts are currently listed as open, in deferred status, and scheduled for repayment beginning XX/XX/XXXX. I did not apply for, authorize, or receive any benefit from these loans. I believe these accounts were opened fraudulently and may be the result of identity theft or unauthorized use of my personal information. I have disputed these accounts previously ; however, they continue to be reported, which is causing ongoing harm to my credit profile. I am requesting the following : 1.…
I took out a private student loan through Sallie Mae to attend XXXX XXXX XXXX approximately two years ago. I was enrolled as a part-time student and followed the schools scheduling procedures. When I needed to reschedule, I provided advance notice, typically more than 2448 hours in advance. In one instance, I had a medical issue and provided a doctors note to support my absence. Despite following these procedures, I was informed that I could no longer continue in the program after rescheduling. This dismissal was not due to academic failure, misconduct, or any known violation of policy, and it was not my decision to withdraw. It is important to note that scheduling changes were not unusual, as instructors would also cancel sessions at times due to weather or other circumstances. I made every effort to comply with the program requirements and communicate appropriately.…
Every month I have a total of around {$250.00} to pay. XXXX of the loans being {$70.00} a month and the other loan being {$170.00}. On my student low payment history, it is only showing {$70.00} being deducted from my loans. I only found this out now when I realize that my interest is increasing dramatically next month. I have been paying the total every month and I dont see {$170.00} being deducted from my history. Therefore, my loan is insanely high. I have proof of screenshots from each month of me paying off my loans. Quite frankly, I am panicking because I dont know what to do. Im hoping that this can be solved because I am very stressed right now.
Repayment of Student Loan From Supplemental Security Income and Unfair collection Practices by Sallie Mae .The loan amount is {$290000.00} I am filing a formal complaint against Sallie Mae and its collection attorneys regarding collection practices and payment of student loan from my protected federal benefits. At the age of two I was diagnosed with XXXX which has not allowed me to function properly and my sole income at XXXX XXXX XXXX is Supplemental Security Income ( SSI ). This fund is federally protected under the law. Despite the legal protection, Sallie Mae has caused my SSI to be taken from my bank account. I recently graduated from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and sat for the XX/XX/2026 XXXX XXXX. I am currently in the process of seeking employment, but I have not yet secured stable income. As a result, I am experiencing a temporary but significant financial hardship during this transition period from graduation to employment. Despite making good-faith efforts to communicate with Sallie Mae about my situation and explore repayment options, I do not believe I have been provided with reasonable or workable alternatives that reflect my current financial reality. The repayment expectations appear to require immediate payments at a level that I can not meet at this time, and the options presented have not provided sufficient flexibility or a meaningful transition period.…
I am filing a complaint regarding a private student loan associated with XXXX XXXX, as I believe the debt was incurred under misleading and unfair circumstances. At enrollment, I was not informed of certain academic requirements that were later enforced mid-program, including subjective assignment completion standards that were necessary to progress. While I met all published measurable requirements ( including consistently passing all required knowledge checks above the stated 70 % threshold ), my ability to continue was obstructed by inconsistent grading enforcement and lack of timely instructional support. I repeatedly requested assistance within required timeframes but experienced significant delays, including response gaps of several weeks. Due to strict course deadlines, this lack of support prevented me from completing assignments as required.…
On XX/XX/XXXX, my son, the primary borrower on this private student loan, filed XXXX XXXX bankruptcy. I remained the non filing co-signer on the account, and we live at the same address. Before this issue, the account had about XXXX years of perfect on time payment history. After the bankruptcy filing, Sallie Mae XXXX online portal access and canceled the existing autopay arrangement. At the same time, monthly statements and mailed notices stopped coming to our home. Neither my son nor I received clear notice or instructions explaining how payments were supposed to be made during that period. Online access was not restored until after discharge, and only after my son received a credit alert on XX/XX/XXXX and called customer service. That same day, a payment was made to bring the account current, and on XX/XX/XXXX, another payment was made to cover the XX/XX/XXXX payment.…
I am a cosigner on two private student loans with Sallie Mae. The combined balance on both loans is approximately {$24000.00}. The loans are approximately four months past due. On XXXX, I contacted Sallie Mae to discuss available repayment options and hardship programs on both accounts. The representative told me they could not discuss any options or take any action on the accounts unless I provided my current employer information. I declined to provide this information. The representative confirmed that without employer information, they would not discuss any repayment programs, hardship options, or any other account resolution. I believe there is no legitimate servicing requirement that conditions access to repayment options on providing employer information. Employer information is not necessary to discuss payment arrangements or hardship programs.…
I am filing this complaint regarding inaccurate and inconsistent reporting of a Sallie Mae account on my credit report. This account reflects a pattern of reporting that raises serious concerns about accuracy and compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). Specifically, I have identified the following issues : - The payment history is incomplete and contains missing reporting periods- The account reflects inconsistent status changes ( current, delinquent, and charged-off ) without a clear and continuous progression - The Date of First Delinquency ( DOFD ) has not been clearly verified or documented - The timeline of delinquency appears irregular and potentially inaccurately reported Based on my credit report, the account shows varying statuses across multiple years, including periods marked as OK followed by delinquency and eventual charge-off, which raises concerns about whether the delinquency was continuous as required for accurate reporting.…
I was paying my payments of {$250.00} on time until I got laid off from my job in XXXX. I have called multiple times, most recently today, XXXX XXXX to request some type of payment plan or hardship assistance until I can get another job. According them, there are no hardship assistance for losing your job and because I was previously on a payment program I have to make 12 consecutive payments before I could be eligible for another program. I was asked if I was looking for a job by one of the employees and if I could have one in next month. I have been diligently looking for a job and I have other responsibilities besides Sallie Mae, I am a recent mother and I have other bills to pay. Its very disheartening that they dont have some type of program or plan for when you are laid off from you job due to no fault of your own. I let them know I will continue to pay {$150.00}, even though that is pushing it.…

I am submitting a complaint regarding a private student loan issued by Sallie Mae while I was enrolled at XXXX XXXX of Art and Design. At the time I applied for the loan, I had no income, no savings, and was not a fully admitted degree-seeking student. I was enrolled as a non-degree/conditional student attempting to gain acceptance into a degree program, and I had already experienced academic instability, including failing and retaking courses. Despite this, I was approved for up to {$80000.00} in private student loans with a co-signer who already had existing debt. I believe this loan was issued without proper evaluation of my ability to repay and without adequate consideration of my actual academic status or likelihood of completing a degree program. The instant Trump 's Administration reversed Biden 's order where lenders weren't able to report past due payments to the three credit bureaus, I started receiving calls. They wanted me to pay an exorbitant amount down and the monthly payments were well over {$500.00}. I don't make that kind of money. I'm still in XXXX, they still wouldn't allow deferment and forbearance wasn't an option either. IN a span of ten days Sallie Mae called me 11 times. I've have worked very very hard in the last 8 or so years to raise my credit score and if I can't make payments that is all going to be a waste. It's saddening. I'm trying tot get on my feet, graduate and I can't because I have this dark cloud of Sallie Mae calling me every day, several times a day.

I am writing to formally document and report concerns regarding my experience as a student and student-athlete at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX to XXXX. I enrolled as a XXXX major with the intention of pursuing medical school and was recruited with the promise of strong academic support, close faculty relationships, and a quality educational environment. I was also offered a partial athletic scholarship as a member of the volleyball team. Unfortunately, my experience did not align with these representations in several significant ways. 1. Financial Aid and Administrative Support During orientation, my parent and I spent several hours in the financial aid office seeking guidance on loans and related processes. We received minimal assistance, were instructed to complete complex forms independently, and encountered staff who were unable or unwilling to answer questions. This lack of support created confusion and left us without a clear understanding of financial obligations. 2.…
Sallie Mae placed my private student loan into a Graduated Repayment Period ( GRP ) that allowed reduced interest-only payments for 12 months. I was informed that after 12 months of GRP I would be able to obtain forbearance. I relied on that representation in managing the loan. When the GRP ended, Sallie Mae increased my required monthly payment from about {$29.00} to {$62.00}, with the higher payment due beginning XX/XX/year>. Before becoming delinquent, I contacted Sallie Mae to request repayment relief. Sallie Mae then denied both forms of relief I sought. In a XX/XX/year>XXXX letter, Sallie Mae stated that my renewed GRP request could not be processed because the loan had previously been enrolled in GRP and the program was only available for one-time use.…
I am submitting this complaint regarding the reporting of a XXXX and XXXXday delinquency on my student loan account for Sallie Mae in 2023 . In 2023, I enrolled in what I understood to be an interest-only or deferment-type program with Sallie Mae. At the time, I was under the clear impression that full payments were not required, and that my account was in a status that would prevent delinquency. However, I later discovered that my account had been reported as XX/XX/XXXX days past due during this period. At no point was it made clear to me that payments were still required in order to keep the account current. Had this been properly communicated, I would have made the necessary payments to avoid any negative reporting. This situation appears to be the result of either miscommunication or a lack of clear disclosure regarding the terms and requirements of the program I was placed in.…

I am submitting this complaint regarding a private student loan issued by Sallie Mae, which I believe involved unfair and deceptive lending practices, compounded by a lack of adequate guidance during my college enrollment process.
