These people constantly call my home phone, text, and contact others and willingly blurt out the last 4 of the SSN of the person they are looking for. I have told them REPEATEDLY to STOP calling my home and cell. They claim to want to " verify '' someone but if I am not the person you need to speak with and someone asking who they are and what company, they shouldn't be giving me the last 4 of someone's SSN immediately. " Is this ( person A ) with the last 4 of your social security number being XXXX? '' That is crazy to be the first thing asked to verify someone BEFORE they are even verified. I don't owe them anything or have know knowledge of any accounts being in collections. I am filing this complaint against the above debt collector for violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ) and the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). The company has contacted me regarding an alleged debt. I timely requested proper debt validation in writing. To date, the company has failed to provide competent validation proving that I owe this debt, that they have legal standing to collect it, and that the amount being claimed is accurate. Despite failing to validate the debt, the company continues to attempt collection and/or report the account to consumer reporting agencies. This constitutes continued collection activity without validation, which is prohibited under the FDCPA. Additionally, any credit reporting associated with this account is inaccurate and unverified. Reporting a debt without proper verification violates the FCRA and causes direct harm to my credit profile and financial standing. I dispute this debt in its entirety.…

A company that identifies themselves as Unifin sends repeated text messages that read This is Unifin, a debt collector. Contact us about ref # XXXX @ XXXX or XXXX ChargesMayApply Reply STOP to stop texts. They do this roughly once a day, and from different phone numbers constantly. Some light research showed me other people were getting this scam too, so I have not interacted with it at all besides reporting it as spam. I know I have no debt, and have not seen any impact on my credit, and the company has failed to address me by name, so I am relatively certain this is a scam to steal peoples identities.
