CRI has provided inaccurate information such as dates regarding paper and paperwork submission. Their agents have ended online chats in the middle of conversations. On several occasions they have wrote notes to who they refer to as their back room, however the correspondence from the people making the decisions does not align with what customer service is stating. When I requested to speak to someone in the back room ( the ones handling the loans ), I was told that is not how they do their business. Customers are not allowed to discuss matters with the decisions makers, which means that there is a discrepancy between the two parties. This has led to miscommunication for several months that we are unable to resolve. The customer service agents continue to put notes on my file/loan forgiveness application that the back room fails to read/understand. They deny my application and we start the whole process over again.…

I am filing a formal complaint regarding CRIs deceptive online auto-pay enrollment system and their refusal to correct the resulting inaccurate credit reporting, in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). On XX/XX/year>, I enrolled in Auto Debit through CRI 's portal. CRIs system generated and sent me an official PDF confirmation letter stating : " We are writing to confirm your enrollment in Auto Debit for your CRI account, which you authorized on XX/XX/year>. '' I reasonably relied on this official documentation. However, CRI claims that later that exact same day, the enrollment was cancelled because a backend " Terms and Conditions re-authorization '' was allegedly not completed. I did not manually cancel this enrollment. CRI 's system generated a false " Approval '' letter before the process was allegedly finalized, giving me a false sense of security, while dropping my enrollment in the background.…
I am formally requesting an investigation and removal of the reported student loan account showing a balance of {$3200.00} on my credit report. In my CRI account it is showing a balance of {$3200.00}. I believe this account is inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). Between XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX they are reporting different months that were late such as some saying XXXX days and others saying XXXX days in the wrong months. Please provide complete documentation verifying the accuracy of this account, including the original signed agreement, payment history, and proof that this debt belongs to me and is being reported correctly. If you can not fully verify the account information within the time allowed by law, I request that the account be deleted from my credit report immediately.…
I am submitting this complaint against Central Research , Inc. ( CRI ), XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX concerning inaccurate credit reporting and failures to conduct reasonable investigations under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). This matter involves a federal student loan account that was transferred from XXXX to Central Research , Inc. between XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. CRI and/or XXXX used an outdated mailing address associated with my fathers former residence for account communications. As a result, I did not receive adequate notice regarding the transfer, servicing status, or alleged delinquency prior to the negative reporting appearing on my credit file. Account statements from XXXX attached to this complaint show that my correct mailing address remained on file through XX/XX/XXXX. Additional records reflect that by XX/XX/XXXX, the mailing address associated with the account had been changed to an outdated address without my knowledge or authorization.…
During a servicing transfer, my servicer placed my loans into forbearance from XX/XX/year> through XX/XX/year> without my knowledge or consent. The servicer has since acknowledged this was the result of a system error on their end. During this XXXX-month period, interest accrued on my loans without my awareness. I was unable to make normal payments toward principal because only some of my loan groups were marked as due, which masked the full extent of the issue. When I requested that the servicer reverse or credit the interest that accrued as a result of their error, they refused, stating that interest " accrued normally '' and could not be reversed. I am requesting that the CFPB require the servicer to provide a full accounting of the interest that accrued during this period and to reverse or credit the interest that accrued as a direct result of their system error.
I am a victim of student loan identity theft. I have provided the servicer, Central Research Inc., with a complete fraud discharge package, including an FTC Identity Theft Report ( Report # XXXX ) and a formal Police Report ( Case # XXXX ). Despite receiving this legal documentation, Central Research Inc. is engaging in the following misconduct : Illegal Documentation Demands : Central Research Inc. is stalling the discharge by demanding my high school and college transcripts. Per Federal Student Aid regulations and the Higher Education Act, transcripts are not a legal requirement for an identity theft/forgery discharge. Identity Mapping : After I reported the fraud, Central Research Inc. willfully updated the fraudulent account with my legitimate contact information ( address and phone number ). They are now using this " identity mapping '' to fabricate a link between me and a debt I do not owe.…

Complaint to Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ( CFPB ) Subject : Servicer Refusal to Provide Written Response or Substantiate Claim Central Research , Inc . I am submitting a follow-up complaint regarding Central Research , Inc. ( CRI ) and the servicing of my federal student loan. Summary of Issue CRI previously acknowledged that my repayment plan was incorrectly configured and subsequently increased my monthly payment. They have also stated that this error did not result in any additional interest or financial impact. Current Problem I have made multiple written requests for a specific calculation to verify this claim, including : - A comparison of total repayment under the corrected schedule versus what I would have paid if the correct schedule had been applied from the beginning - The methodology used to calculate that comparison CRI has not provided this information.…
I submitted a borrowers Defense application in the XXXX of XXXX. My lender stated that because they took my account over at about that time they did not get the paperwork and asked me to resubmit. I emailed the application XX/XX/XXXX after a XXXX point decrease on my credit score. I received a letter acknowledging they put me on administrative forbearance on XX/XX/XXXX. Then received an email saying that I was being taken off of admin forbearance in XX/XX/XXXX. I called and was told it would automatically extend as long as my application process was pending. It did not. I called on XX/XX/XXXX and was asked to upload the application to the portal, which I did, because they claimed they did not receive the application by email in XXXX. I called to verify on XX/XX/XXXX and was told I needed to email again and wait for it to be processed. On XX/XX/XXXX I called again and spoke to a manager who claimed that my application is now outdated and I need to submit a totally new application.…
I am filing this complaint against Central Research , Inc. ( CRI ) for inaccurate credit reporting of ten 90-day late marks resulting from a documented servicer-side notification and disclosure failure. My provided email records demonstrate a systemic failure in CRIs automated notification system during the first quarter of XXXX : -Proof of Functional System ( XX/XX/XXXX ) : On XX/XX/XXXX, CRI successfully delivered a specific delinquency alert with the subject line : " Your student loan account is past due. '' This confirms the servicer has the technical capacity to provide clear, meaningful notice of delinquency. -The " Silent Quarter '' ( XXXX XXXX ) : Following the XXXX alert, CRI failed to send any billing statements or " Past Due '' notifications for XXXX or XX/XX/XXXX. During this time, the only communications I received were tax-related ( XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX ), which lacked any mention of account delinquency.…
I am filing this complaint regarding inaccurate and inconsistent credit reporting by Central Research Inc concerning a student loan-related account currently appearing on my credit reports. The reporting being furnished is contradictory, misleading, and appears inconsistent among the three major credit bureaus. Examples include : XXXX and XXXX reporting the account as Pays account as agreed or Paid or paying as agreed while simultaneously reporting severe delinquency statuses. XXXX reporting the account as Current account/was delinquent 180 days or more past due. Different delinquency levels being reported across bureaus ( 120 days vs. 180 days delinquent ). Payment history showing periods marked OK followed by new severe delinquency reporting. This account appears connected to a student loan servicing transition, and I believe inaccurate delinquency information may have been improperly carried over, duplicated, or incorrectly updated during the transfer process.…
I am filing a complaint regarding the servicing of my student loans by XXXX XXXX XXXX servicing related to unauthorized repayment plan changes, involuntary forbearances, autopay failures, lack of communication, and resulting financial harm. I had an active autopay arrangement established for the XXXX of each month, and my payments had consistently been approximately {$710.00} per month. I did not request any repayment plan changes, pauses, or forbearances. In XXXX, the servicer experienced what they described as a system error that changed repayment plans for multiple borrowers. During my communications with the servicer, representatives acknowledged : my repayment plan was changed due to a system/system processing error, my XXXX payment was skipped because the account was placed into forbearance, my repayment plan was recalculated multiple times, my XXXX payment was also skipped due to additional corrective actions, and these actions were taken without prior communication or…
Found a student loan debt on my credit report in XX/XX/XXXX, that was opened in XX/XX/XXXX. Loan appears to have been for XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, that is now past due and negatively reported on my credit. I am not nor have I ever been a student at the XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, nor do I know anyone who has. I have never applied or received student loan monies from any school. I contacted the collection agency Central Research Inc ( as shown on credit report ) on XX/XX/XXXX, they referred me to the XXXX XXXX XXXX. I contacted XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, filed a ID Theft Affidavit, filed a police report with the XXXX XXXX ( OH ) XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, and a filed a report of identity theft with the FTC on XX/XX/XXXX.
Central Research XXXX ( XXXX ) acquired the servicing of our XXXX loans in XX/XX/year>. CRI failed to notify us of the change in servicers. CRI sent all correspondence via USPS mail to a former XXXX XXXX XXXX address that had previously been updated with the prior servicer " XXXX ''. Payments for these loans were made on time to XXXX until XX/XX/year> when XXXX refused to accept any additional payment through the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. We inquired with XXXX via email twice and USPS mail twice but received no response from them regarding the payment refusal. It wasn't until XX/XX/XXXX that I discovered several thousand complaints about a company called CRI regarding their handleing of student loans recently aquired. Many of the complaints found online in chat rooms like " XXXX '' & " XXXX '' described multiple instances of lack of notice, refusal to address payment processing, and assorted other service issues.…
My federal student loan has been transferred between multiple servicing companies over time. When it was transferred to CRI, my monthly payment increased by {$20.00}. At that time, I was informed that this increase would occur every two years. However, due to issues on CRIs end, I was not billed at all starting in XX/XX/year>. During that period, I did not receive any communication regarding changes to my account, including any scheduled payment increases. Recently, I received a new bill with only three weeks notice before the due date. The amount reflects an additional {$47.00} increase, which was never previously disclosed or explained. When I contacted customer service, I was told that after a review, my payment was adjusted, but no clear reasoning or documentation was provided. The lack of transparency, inconsistent billing, and absence of proper notification are concerning.…
I am filing this complaint regarding the student loan serviced by CRI for myself, the borrower, XXXX XXXX. The account was reported 90 days late to the credit bureaus, causing mu credit score to drop from approximately XXXX to XXXX. This delinquency was caused entirely by CRI 's system errors and deceptive communication, and should be corrected. On XX/XX/2026, I set up automatic payments on XXXX separate loan accounts on the same day a personal loan through XXXX and this student loan through CRI both drawing from the same checking account ending in XXXX. The autopay through XXXX saved correctly and has processed without issue. It continues to work. The autopay through CRI seems to have not worked due to their system being faulty. The fact that autopay was successfully established on a different platform using the same bank account on the same day demonstrates that the error originated in CRI 's system.…
I am filing this complaint against Central Research , Inc. ( CRI ), a federal student loan servicer, due to its failure to provide clear and complete account information. Additionally, CRI has continued to furnish inconsistent derogatory credit reports and is now avoiding a written records request that I need to respond to the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX regarding this debt. CRI 's servicing and reporting have been inconsistent over time. One group of loans was declared in default and transferred to the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. CRI stated that it could no longer provide assistance or information because the loan was no longer in its system. Meanwhile, a related smaller loan group remained with CRI and continued to be billed and reported separately. CRI has also sent conflicting communications regarding loan status. In XX/XX/year>, XXXX sent letters indicating that a forbearance was ending and that payments would resume on XX/XX/year>.…
My and my spouse who is prior service were trying to get a VA home loan, and they notified us that I XXXX, have student loan debt, that I was never told about. I got out of XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX, and this is my first time hearing about this student loan debt. I have called many times to the school and the automated system kept giving me different amounts that I owe, and then once I was able to get someone on the phone, when they would transfer me to the financial department, no one would ever answer or it went straight to voicemail for me and my spouse. Since that we cant get a home loan because of this mishap.
there was a random forbearance placed on my loan, and the company never notified me that this had happened. This resulted in me paying the wrong amount for three months, which in the long-term is going to cause me to have to pay more in my student loans I had contacted the company multiple times via chat and via phone call to you ask them to please correct this more than twice nothing had been changed and they also could not provide me with a response as to why the system randomly decided to change my loan payment amount when I ask them to go back and correct the interest that I will in the long run have to pay because of this problem they denied me even though it was a problem on their part
Complaint to Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ( CFPB ) Subject : Repeated Failure to Provide Supporting Documentation and Substantive Response Federal Student Loan Servicing ( Central Research , Inc. ) I am submitting an additional follow-up complaint regarding Central Research , Inc. ( CRI ), as their most recent response continues to be incomplete, unsupported, and unresponsive to my requests. Summary of Ongoing Issue CRI has acknowledged that my repayment plan was incorrectly configured, resulting in a miscalculated monthly payment. They have since increased my payment from {$140.00} to {$380.00}.…
My federal student loan account was reported as XXXX days past due, which significantly damaged my XXXX XXXX. The account was originally set up while my mother was handling the process and managing communication. Shortly after, she was diagnosed with stage XXXX XXXX, and during that time many financial responsibilities, including this account, were disrupted. Although my email was listed on the account, I did not receive clear notification that payments had resumed or that the account had become delinquent. The only notice I later found was in my junk email folder. I became aware of the issue only after reviewing my credit report and seeing the delinquency reporting. At that time, I immediately took action to address the account and bring it current ( or begin repayment arrangements, if applicable ).…
On the period of XX/XX/XXXX, my account was reported as a late payment and my credit score subsequently decreased. My account is set to autopay, and shows unencumbered payments of $ XXXX on the XXXX of every month for this entire year. My statement also reflects that my outstanding balance as of XX/XX/XXXX reflected my payment for that month. My credit has now decreased and I demand that this is immediately rectified to show that my account not delinquent or late in any capacity. Immediately.
I am filing this complaint regarding collection accounts being reported and/or collected without proper validation or sufficient documentation. I have identified accounts associated with CENTRAL RE and DEPTEDXXXX that are being reported on my credit file and/or collected upon. I have previously disputed these accounts and requested proper validation ; however, no adequate documentation has been provided. Despite my requests, the companies continue to report and/or attempt to collect on these accounts without providing : * A copy of the original contract or agreement bearing my signature * A full account-level breakdown of the alleged debt * Documentation proving their legal authority to collect this debt * Verification that the amount being reported is accurate and consistent Additionally, these accounts are being reported with inconsistencies and/or duplicate entries, which raises serious concerns regarding the accuracy and legitimacy of the information being furnished.…
I am filing a complaint regarding my federal student loan servicer, Central Research , Inc. ( CRI ) On XX/XX/year>, I logged into my account and discovered that my monthly payment had increased from {$280.00} to {$370.00}. I currently have autopay enabled, and this higher amount is scheduled to be automatically withdrawn from my bank account within days. I did not receive any prior notification of this increase by email, mail, or account alert. I contacted the servicer via chat to ask why my payment increased. I was told that I am on a graduated repayment plan and that payments increase automatically every 24 months. While I understand that graduated plans can increase over time, this does not explain the lack of any advance notice. I then attempted to locate my full payment schedule on the servicers website. The system stated that my payment schedule is not available due to my loan not being redisclosed by the Department of Education.…
I graduated from law school in XX/XX/XXXX. Because of that, my graduate student loans were in forbearance under the COVID forbearance program until XX/XX/XXXX. As of XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX was my servicer. I began making payments under the standard repayment plan in XX/XX/XXXX, in the amount of {$2500.00} per month. Notably, XXXX correctly showed the payment terms for my loans were between XXXX, i.e.XX/XX/XXXX years andXX/XX/XXXX months toXX/XX/XXXX years and XX/XX/XXXXmonths, because my required repayment started in XX/XX/XXXX, not XXXX. After several months, I realized that I did not have sufficient income to pay the standard amount each month and also be able to pay the mortgage payment, utilities, food, etc. without wiping out all of my savings and likely going into further debt. I asked to change to the graduated repayment program ( with a term ofXX/XX/XXXX years ), and my request was granted on XX/XX/XXXX.…
I am filing a complaint against CRI for furnishing inaccurate and contradictory credit information and failing to correct it after being placed on clear notice. My federal student loan account is being reported with aXX/XX/XXXXday delinquency. This reporting is inaccurate. CRI has already issued a formal written response stating that it has no record of reporting my account as 90 days past due. I am attaching this documentation. Despite this, the XXXX delinquency remains on my credit report. This is a direct and unacceptable contradiction. Either CRI is furnishing inaccurate information, or it has failed to correct information that it knows is incorrect. This is not a minor issue. This is a material reporting failure. In addition : * I spoke directly with a CRI representative who reviewed my account and confirmed that I was not late. This call was recorded.…
I became aware on or around XX/XX/year> when I received a default notice dated XX/XX/year> from CRI ( Central Research , Inc. ), Account Number XXXX, for {$5000.00}. I have never applied for or taken out any student loan. When I attempted to create a XXXX account to investigate, I discovered an account already existed under my Social Security number with a XXXX address that is not mine and does not match my name in any way.
I am submitting a follow-up complaint regarding Central Research , Inc. ( CRI ) and the servicing of my federal student loan. This complaint is in response to CRIs recent reply to my prior CFPB complaint, which I believe is incomplete, unsupported, and non-compliant with servicing obligations. Summary of the Situation : CRI previously acknowledged that my repayment plan was incorrectly configured during the transfer of my loans from XXXX, resulting in a miscalculated monthly payment. They unilaterally corrected this error and increased my monthly payment from {$140.00} to {$380.00}. In response to my initial CFPB complaint, CRI stated that : No additional interest or increase was assessed as a result of this correction. However, they did not provide any documentation or analysis to support this claim. ________________________________________ Key Issues with CRIs Response 1.…

As a current patient of physic care, my prior physician was doing an evaluation of my XXXX XXXX and confirmed with me that XXXX XXXX scammed me with my education. She did not relay much information back to me other than my weight of XXXX lbs and the risk of entering a field of this. She then told me to contact consumer protection. Which I could not find till now this was dated back in XXXX in the fall. I am now asking to file and get some help with this record at XXXX XXXX with student loans that are now currently needing to be payed.
