My statement includes an additional {$220.00} in interest charges, but Citibank has not explained the basis for these charges or how they were calculated. Complaint Against Citi Bank/Best Buy Credit Card Services I am filing this complaint against Citi Bank , the issuer of my Best Buy credit card account, and Best Buy regarding their failure to properly investigate fraudulent charges, their continued attempts to collect a debt that I dispute, and their violations of federal consumer protection laws. In XXXX I discovered multiple charges on my Best Buy/Citi credit card account that I did not authorize or make. I immediately contacted both Citi Bank and Best Buy to report the charges as fraudulent. During those calls, I informed them that the transactions were unauthorized, requested that the account be closed to prevent further fraud, and asked that the charges be investigated. Despite reporting the fraud, additional charges continued to appear on the account, causing the balance to increase. XXXX of the transactions was reportedly made in the XXXX area, a location where I did not make purchases.…
On XX/XX/year>, while traveling with my family in XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, XXXX, I was the victim of a payment fraud involving my Citibank debit card. I intended to complete a legitimate purchase for a much smaller amount. I entered my debit card and PIN because I was deceived about the amount being charged. Instead, my account was charged {$3000.00} plus a foreign transaction fee. I never knowingly authorized a transaction for {$3000.00}. Immediately after discovering the unauthorized charge, while I was still in XXXX, I contacted Citibank by phone and opened a fraud claim. On the same day, I filed an official police report with the XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX. The police report documents the fraud, identifies the suspect, and describes how I was deceived into approving a transaction for an amount I did not intend to authorize. I am filing this complaint based on Citibank 's XX/XX/year> response to my previous CFPB complaint. This complaint concerns the adequacy, accuracy, and timeliness of Citibank 's investigation. I disputed {$12000.00} in unauthorized charges from XXXX XXXX XXXX. My dispute remained unresolved well beyond the timeframes established under the Fair Credit Billing Act ( FCBA ), which generally requires creditors to resolve billing error disputes within 90 days or two complete billing cycles, whichever is less. Despite these requirements, my dispute remained unresolved for more than 100 days. Rather than providing evidence supporting its decision, Citibank 's response contains a factual statement that I dispute. Specifically, Citibank states that I " stated '' my card was in my possession. I never made that statement in a manner that supports its conclusion that the transactions were authorized.…
On XX/XX/year> I made a valid credit charge to my Citi card. I am an authorized user. The primary called CITI after he was reminded I made the payment & reported my charge as fraudulent. I called the bank to confirm it was a valid charge because I am an authorized user. If this were legal, anyone could make a large purchase and have the primary cardholder report it as fraudulent. They informed me that he was the primary and already closed my account. Also they would be reversing the valid charge I made. This is illegal as was an authorized user and had his permission to use the card.
Subject : Request for Reinvestigation Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( 15 U.S.C. 1681i ) To : XXXX Consumer Dispute Center I am writing to formally dispute the accuracy of the CitiCards CBNA account listed on my XXXX credit report. I am requesting that XXXX conduct a thorough reinvestigation of this account because I question the accuracy and completeness of the information being reported. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), 15 U.S.C. 1681i, XXXX is required to conduct a reasonable reinvestigation of disputed information. Additionally, 15 U.S.C. 1681e ( b ) requires consumer reporting agencies to maintain reasonable procedures to assure the maximum possible accuracy of the information contained in consumer reports. Accordingly, I request that XXXX : Conduct a reasonable reinvestigation of this account.…
Citis chat agents gave contradictory explanations, refused to provide transaction-specific records, and only submitted feedback rather than opening an investigation.
I have applied several times to open a new store credit card owned by Citibank due to the fact that my account was closed back in XX/XX/year> but keep getting denied. I have sent several letters requesting a reason for the denial and tried calling but nothing. They also sent a XXXX Form requesting additional information in which I did send them twice. They finally replied back in XXXX " that they choose not to do business with me because high volume purchases and frequent payments from unknown sources '' which mean what? I have an outstanding credit score, no outstanding debts and assets to support my financial background. I am also an employee of Bloomingdale 's owned by the Macy 's Corp which entitles me to associate discount but with no credit card I can not get that privilege. It seems to me that Citibank is being discriminate. This has been going on now for over 10 months and have not gotten anywhere.
On XX/XX/year>, I tried to use my credit card at a local grocery store. It was denied 3 times. I logged onto my account and I got a message that my account had been closed. Since it was Saturday, I could not speak to a live person on the phone, I had to wait until the next Monday. I did chat with a live person, who informed me that my account was closed, because it was flagged as deceased. They informed me that customer service flagged it as deceased at XXXX : XXXX, which would be after XXXX. They gave me the number to the probate department, which I had to wait until Monday to call. When I called the XXXX Department on Monday, they confirmed that my account was indeed flagged as deceased and closed. They told me that they could put in a request to reopen my account, but it would take XXXX calendar days. They could not tell me the why, who, when, etc, as pertaining to my account being flagged as deceased and closed
All my credit cards were closed without explanation. I have been using these cards for 20 years.
I am filing a formal complaint against Citicards CBNA for inaccurate, non-compliant, and contradictory credit reporting under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). XXXX recently completed a dispute investigation on XX/XX/year>, regarding account XXXX. The updated reporting lists the 'Date Closed ' as XX/XX/year>. However, Citi continues to actively report monthly 'Charge-Off ' ( CO ) historical indicators for XXXX, XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX of 2026. Reporting recurring monthly negative ratings long after an account has been closed directly violates FCRA accuracy standards and XXXX guidelines. Furthermore, the report contains a severe mathematical mismatch, listing an Amount Past Due of {$690.00} but a Charge Off Amount of {$0.00} while maintaining an active Charge Off status. These metrics are legally and logically impossible.
In early XXXX, I was charged {$810.00} by XXXX for storage services that were not properly delivered. I initiated a billing dispute with Citibank ( Case ID XXXX ) requesting a full credit for the charge. Over several months, I have submitted detailed documentation proving the PODS service failure across multiple rounds of correspondence with Citibank 's billing disputes team. Each time, Citibank denied the dispute without providing adequate justification or explanation for why my evidence was insufficient. Most recently, Citibank requested additional documentation. On XX/XX/XXXX, I submitted XXXX supporting documents to XXXX and XXXX. The next day, XX/XX/XXXX, I received a secure email from Citibank that simply resent a copy of a previously issued letter, stating it was " not necessarily relevant to the current status of the dispute, '' with no acknowledgment of my latest submission and no substantive update.…
I was overdrawn on my Citibank checking account and received a notification that it was blocked on the XXXX of XXXX. I then tried to deposit the amount to unblock my account, and it did not work. I called the customer service line and was told to go into a local branch to deposit it with a bank teller. I went in the next day, and they were not able to lift the block. I called the customer service line while I was at the branch, and the teller and the customer representative tried to resolve the issue with the account. When I spoke to the representative, he told me the teller could remove the block from the account. The teller clearly did not say that because I was sitting right in front of her. They couldn't help me at the branch, so I went home and called customer service again. The customer service representative told me I would have to go into the branch, which I did, and the branch was not helpful at all.…
in XX/XX/year>, I deposited a check into my Citibank checking account. The check cleared NO ISSUES. My account balance reflected {$11000.00} after the deposit. The {$11000.00} sat in my account for 3 days. Before I withdrew or spent any of the funds, Citibank froze and then closed my account. I never received a clear explanation of why my account was closed or what happened to the deposited check. I am requesting a detailed explanation of the reason for the account closure, the disposition of the deposited check, and copies of any records or notices related to the closure.
I am in receipt of a rejection letter from Citibank 's XXXX of the XXXX dated XX/XX/year>. Citibank admits in this letter that the promotional materials I used promised an XXXX bonus, but they are refusing to honor it because my account was finalized after the XX/XX/year>, expiration date. Never when I signed up did it say I was ineligible for the new customer signup bonus. It lets me go all the way through, runs my credit and allows me to get the new credit card never telling me once that Im ineligible. When I called to ask about this on XX/XX/year>, I was told it is in the terms and conditions I have to wait 4 years since my last card. In XX/XX/year>, my wife and I purchased approximately {$20000.00} in replacement windows through XXXX XXXX operating under Home Depot. We agreed to the purchase based on the promise of 24 months of interest-free promotional financing through a Home Depot Consumer Credit Card serviced by Citi. We immediately set up automatic payments of {$1000.00} per month because that would pay the balance within 24 months. More than a year later, I discovered Citi had charged approximately {$5000.00} in retroactive interest because the account had apparently been placed under a 12-month deferred-interest promotion instead. Despite repeated requests, neither Home Depot nor Citi has produced a signed agreement, written disclosure, or recorded phone call showing that I agreed to a 12-month promotion. If such evidence exists, I will accept responsibility. To date, none has been provided. Under the Truth in Lending Act and Regulation Z, consumers should receive clear disclosures of credit terms.…
