I am filing a complaint against Fifth Third Bank regarding unfair overdraft fee practices and poor customer service. My account had been negative for over 4 days. A {$70.00} fee was removed, then reapplied due to a {$5.00} transaction, causing additional financial hardship and preventing me from paying my bills. I attempted to resolve this by phone, but I was disconnected multiple times, including when requesting a supervisor. This prevented me from addressing the issue. I am requesting a full refund of the {$70.00} fee and a formal review of both the fee handling and customer service conduct.

Lender stated that the vehicle is up for repossession due to missed payments from XXXX XXXX XXXX. Payments were originally made over the phone but seized once lender stated that was no longer an option due to my personal bank rejecting payments in the past. Lender was asked, what are other acceptable payment methods? Money orders were an option. Multiple money orders were sent XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX, all together equaling the total amount of {$670.00}. The representative assigned today ( XX/XX/year> XXXX ) stated Im not sure why she would tell you to use money orders, they take longer to receive on our end. I asked what would he suggest, if the other said its acceptable? He stated that I would need return to the store and ask for a refund and proceed to wire the funds instead. He mentioned that they would receive the funds quicker and if not, the car is still up for repossession until they receive the payments that are already mailed.…
To Whom It May Concern, I am writing this complaint regarding repeated overdraft fees charged to my account by Fifth Third Bank under circumstances that appear unfair and misleading! On multiple occasions, I received notifications that my account was at risk of overdraft. Immediately upon receiving those alerts, I transferred or deposited funds into the account so that the balance became positive. Despite taking prompt action to cover the transaction, the bank still charged overdraft fees. My concern is that consumers are being led to believe they have the opportunity to avoid fees by correcting the balance after receiving alerts, yet fees are still being assessed even when funds are added right away.…
Subject : Unauthorized Charge and Missing Merchandise - Fifth Third Bank " I am filing this complaint against Fifth Third Bank regarding an unauthorized charge of {$19.00} for a checkbook order dated XX/XX/scrub>, 2026. I never authorized this order, nor do I need these checks. I contacted the bank via chat multiple times to dispute the charge. The bank representative ( XXXX ) acknowledged the unauthorized order but refused to waive the fee through digital channels, insisting that I must physically visit a local branch to return the checks once they arrive. However, as of XX/XX/year>2026, the checks have NOT arrived. The XXXX tracking number ( XXXX ) shows the package has been stuck 'In Transit ' since XX/XX/XXXX and is officially lost or severely delayed. I work XXXX shifts and can not spend my limited time off visiting a branch to return non-existent items for an error the bank committed.…
On XXXX I opened a money market savings account with 5/3rd Bank using a promo code offering me 4.75 % APY guaranteed until XX/XX/XXXX. I transferred funds into the new account and received interest payments shown on my statement of 4.75 % until my statement of XX/XX/XXXX when the rate dropped to 4.74 %, and to 4.49 % on the statement of XX/XX/XXXX. When I called the Bank on XX/XX/XXXX and talked to my Personal Banker, I asked when the rate would change after the guaranteed rate lock of XX/XX/XXXX and was informed by her that she wasn't sure, but to call each day. I contacted all three Bank reps, including an asst. vice XXXX of Preferred Relationship Manager, and I was informed of the same thing, that my rate was still at the 4.74 % rate and to call each day to confirm when it changes.…

I am filing this complaint because Fifth Third Bank engaged in unfair and misleading customer service practices that directly resulted in the wrongful, sudden administrative closure of my checking account while an active dispute was pending. During the month of XX/XX/year>, I contacted Fifth Third Bank 's customer service lines XXXX XXXX to dispute an unfair overdraft fee. Because I was routed through an extensive maze of internal transfers and shifted between multiple departments across these various calls, the process was incredibly chaotic. During these interactions, a representative explicitly instructed me that the timeframe for an internal investigation and resolution would be " maybe 5 days '' and told me to " call back in that time. '' Based entirely on the bank 's direct customer service instruction to wait out this window, I held off on taking structural account actions while expecting their internal update.…
Loss Mitigation Delays from Lender to Cause Imminent Financial Hardship : Good day, I am XXXX VA loan borrower in the process of completing a short sale of my property in the State of Florida with Fifth Third Bank. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX For the past year, I have been affected by the major shutdown of XXXX, deferred rXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX, and reductions in force which have all led to manning gaps and subsequent restructure and reorganization of my department. I have been engaged in the short sale process with Fifth Third since approximately XX/XX/XXXX. Despite these challenges, I have remained current on my mortgage and have never been delinquent throughout this process. To be clear, the request of my short sale with Fifth Third was not due to my inability to pay or any financial irresponsibility, but rather due to the initial relocation of my position with the XXXX to a different XXXX XXXX.…

I paid off my mortgage with XXXX Bank on XX/XX/year>. I had a balance in my escrow account of approximately {$4600.00}. I called XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX to see what the status of this balance was. They told me they were backlogged and would need to investigate. I called XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX to see what the status was. They said they were backlogged and the time for investigation was 10 business days out. I checked the cfpb website and saw that they were requires to refund the escrow money within 20 business days of the mortgage being paid off. I called a second time on XX/XX/XXXX and asked to talk to a supervisor. I spoke to an employee named XXXX. He told me again that there was a backlog to investigate, and that he could open another ticket to investigate. I opened an account at a 5th 3rd branch with proper id and funded the account with direct deposit from my employer. I qualified for and received a {$300.00} bonus from the bank. Then they received a so called " early warning '' from a 3rd party that I had multiple bank accounts in the last year so 5th 3rd decided they did not want me as customer. They then froze my account and stole the {$300.00} bonus I already qualified for and received. They send me the remaining balance and when i complained about all of this they insinuated fraud when its clear they are the only frauds here. When i asked they honor the bonus and give it back they claim they have the power to close an account any time they want and choose to bully me out of the {$300.00}. How pathetic.
Hello, I visited a Fifth Third Bank branch in XXXXXXXX XXXX on XXXX XXXX XXXX to open a checking account. The banker entered all of my information, but at the final step, the bank system would not allow the account to be opened. The banker was unable to determine the reason and tried several times over the following days, but the system still did not work. Eventually, he contacted me and explained that the bank could not verify my information. I do not understand why this happened. I provided all of the required documents to open the account, including my drivers license, a second form of ID, and my checkbook. I would appreciate it if you could investigate this issue and help resolve it so that I may open a checking account with Fifth Third Bank. Thank you for your assistance. Best regards, XXXX XXXX

Fifth Third Bank Complaint Overview Background and Initial Assistance In 2025, my husband and I faced significant medical and employment challenges. We appreciated Fifth Third Banks willingness to collaborate with us during this difficult period. Despite our efforts to comply with all instructions provided by the bank, we are now confronted with foreclosure proceedings against our home, which is both unexpected and distressing. Forbearance and XXXX XXXX Fifth Third Bank granted me a three-month forbearance, which was later extended to approximately XXXX months. Before the forbearance concluded, we were instructed to make XXXX trial paymentson XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX in the amount of {$2100.00}. We made each payment as directed. In XXXX, the bank provided a partial payment plan document for my signature and notarization. I was advised to skip the XX/XX/XXXX payment and resume payments on XX/XX/XXXX.…

I am filing this complaint regarding XXXX XXXX, XXXX, and the involvement of XXXX in withholding merchant card processing deposits owed to my business, On the XXXX XXXX XXXX. Beginning around XX/XX/XXXX, approximately 31 % of my processed card sales began being withheld from my merchant payouts. A withholding report later provided through XXXX shows total withheld funds of {$29000.00}, consisting of {$23000.00} labeled as federal/IRS withholding and {$6700.00} labeled as state withholding. I did not receive timely notice before this withholding began. XXXX initially told me the IRS was taking the funds. I contacted the IRS directly and was told there were no active levies, backup withholding orders, or withholding actions on my account. XXXX later provided a B-Notice dated XX/XX/XXXX after the fact, but I did not receive this notice when it was supposedly issued and was not given a timely opportunity to correct any alleged TIN mismatch.…
Between XX/XX/year> - XX/XX/year> my Fifth Third account was compromised allowing my checing account to be accessed and hacked transferring funds via XXXX to an unknown person.
Fifth Third Bank was given the opportunity to prove the validity of this debt. They were sent two letters demanding them to provide all documents and paperwork to validate the debt. The information they sent was missing documents from 2008, when the mortgage was created, and never produced a full disclosure of Bilateral signatures, the Mutual agreement form, and bookings of account records to prove that I owe them anything. Included in my complaint are the letters of intimidation they sent me, along with a letter dated XXXX XXXX, stating that some of the documents can't be found, which proves they can't produce them. Also included in this complaint is a copy of a stamped signature of someone who was not present at the time of closing on the back of the documents, who stamped without recourse pay to the order of Fifth Third Bank. If the money was loaned to me, why would they put pay to the order of Fifth Third Bank? This debt is void and unenforceable.…
My bank fifth third bank denied my fraud claim twice, the fraud happened in XXXX XXXX XXXX, solely because the transactions were completed using a chip card and I had possession of the card. However, this does not prove that I authorized the transactions. The charges occurred in rapid succession at the same merchant and are inconsistent with my normal spending behavior. I did not authorize these transactions and did not knowingly allow anyone to use my card. The bank failed to conduct a reasonable investigation and instead relied only on the assumption that chip transactions can not be fraudulent. I am requesting a proper investigation and reimbursement of the unauthorized charges.
Mortgage paid off/home sold XX/XX/XXXX ( Fifth Third did not close this loan until XX/XX/XXXX ). Escrow account confirmed closed, Escrow refund still not received ( well beyond federal mortgage servicing rules ). The bank can not confirm whether check was issued so cancelled and put in a request to reissue ( XX/XX/XXXX ). Representatives claim new system prevents visibility into refund/check status. They are unable to give me any information on where my funds are, when they will be issued, or any tracking information ( i.e check number ). Even if they migrated systems, there is always a servicing audit trail somewhere. We dont know is not an acceptable final answer when they are holding or responsible for a customer funds. I am requesting immediate investigation and reissuance, if necessary

Fifth Third sent notice that their online mortgage services would be unavailable XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX as they were going to update their online portals. I made my XXXX mortgage payments on XX/XX/XXXX to avoid issue. I started to receive phone calls and voicemails from Fifth Third Banking regarding my mortgage. I was unable to answer them until Sunday XX/XX/XXXX. The woman on the phone stated we were behind on our mortgage payments. I informed her we were not behind and we had submitted our XXXX mortgage payments. She began to ask for my bank account numbers and reference numbers for the payments made. I told her they should already have that information and that I would not provide any account information over the phone to someone who had called me and that could be a scam. She said she could not submit a missed payment complaint for us and we ended the call.…

We paid our mortgage balance with Fifth Third Bank for our primary residence in XXXX XXXX, Ohio on XX/XX/year>. We had a property tax escrow account balance of approximately {$5300.00}. Fifth Thirds written policy ( confirmed by representatives by phone ) is to send borrowers checks to close escrow accounts within 8-10 business days of mortgage payoff. It has now been well over 30 calendar days, 26 business days, since we paid off our mortage. We have not received our check nor had Fifth Third been able to provide us a date when the check will be sent. Weve lost count of the number of times weve spoken with representatives of Fifth Thirds mortgage loan department, as well as staff in our local retail branch office. The excuse weve received the most is that a computer system upgrade is the cause of the delay. It is incredibly frustrating that Fifth Third continues to withhold such a large sum of money and is unable to provide even an estimated date when we will receive it.
Escalation and Reopening of Complaint # XXXX Fifth Third Bank 's Continued Stalling Tactics and Failure to Communicate Required InformationTo the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ( CFPB ), I am writing to urgently escalate and reopen my previous complaint ( Reference Number : XXXX ) against Fifth Third Bank, N.A. On XX/XX/XXXX, Fifth Third Bank responded to my CFPB complaint via a letter from XXXX XXXX ( Office of the President ). In their official response, Fifth Third Bank claimed that they could not return the fraudulent {$50000.00} wire transfer because they allegedly " required additional information from your financial institution to review the request ''. Furthermore, they explicitly stated that " an additional request was sent to XXXX XXXX XXXX '' upon receiving my CFPB complaint. It has now been over a full month since Fifth Third Bank made this claim, and it appears to be a blatant stalling tactic.…
