I maintain private student loans serviced by MOHELA, not federal student loans. My loans were transferred from XXXX to MOHELA last year. During the process of establishing my payment method, I inadvertently used the payment address associated with MOHELA Federal rather than MOHELA Private. As a result, three separate payments, totaling {$1400.00}, were sent to and negotiated by MOHELA Federal. These payments were intended for my private student loan account serviced by MOHELA Private. Because I do not have a federal student loan account with MOHELA Federal, the funds were accepted and retained by MOHELA Federal rather than being applied to my private loans, forwarded to the appropriate servicing division, or refunded to me. Since discovering this error, I have made numerous attemptsboth verbally and in writingto obtain reimbursement of these funds. I have provided MOHELA with ample time to investigate the matter and review the supporting documentation submitted.…

I renewed my payment plan and was awarded $ 0 monthly payment due to income. I have documentation of same. Mohela is showing a balance due and now showing as behind in payment which is incorrect as I should not have a monthly payment.
I am currently in repayment of federal student loans with Mohela. I received notice that my XX/XX/2026 automatic payment of {$3000.00} did not go through and that my account was overdue. I logged in to confirm that information. They said there was no pending payments and that a payment was needed for the month of XXXX. I made the XXXX XXXXXXXX payment on XX/XX/2026, which is what I normally pay for automatic payments each month. Then I get notification that not only did the XXXX XXXX payment I made but also a payment I never authorized for {$2800.00} was also removed from my account. As I said, my normal automatic payment is for XXXX XXXX so I do not know where that amount came from. I called Mohela directly several times. Each time the call ended while I was on hold waiting for answers to my questions. I called and finally was told they XXXX help me cancel XXXX of the XXXX payments. And that if I want a refund, it would take XXXX business days.…

Thank you in advance for your prompt attention in this matter. Sincerely XXXX XXXX
The company has fraudulently retained my refund and made a fraudulent assessment on my account. Between XXXX XX/XX/year>, I received documentation from Mohela that XXXX student loans were forgiven after working for state government and being a part of the PSLF for XXXX years. The company had incorrectly counted my government work time and advised that I was due a refund of {$9100.00} as of XX/XX/year>. After numerous calls to Mohela, XXXX XXXX XXXX, and the treasury, I have yet to receive my refund AND Mohela has made an assessment for a new balance of over {$2000.00} without explanation. Mohela representatives lied when they advised on numerous occasions that my refund was in process. This fraudulent, deceitful practices have negatively affected my health and well-being.

I am seeking assistance with Mohela and studentaid.gov. I am in the pslf ( public student loan forgiveness ) program and they are not updating my qualifying payments to discharge the remaining balance of my loan. When you go to their site to submit feedback for them to inquire it repeatedly says that the site is not functioning at the time and to check back. I have completed my 120 required payments and would just like for assistance with them since my calls with them have not been successful and i was directed to use their feedback option that is not working. I have contacted my loan servicer and they have stated that i am current and have sent information of my payments to studentaid.gov. I inquired with student aid as to why my payment count decreased and they directed me to the servicer who stated that they provided information on all of my payments.…
I have requested various times that a supervisor reach out to me regarding my student loans and I have yet to receive that call. I am very frustrated because I was amongst thousands of students who was defrauded by XXXXXXXX XXXX now known as XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX. I was apart of the post exhibit class c members whose student loans should have already been taken care of and XXXX out but unfortunately that hasn't happened. It took me to file a complaint through the XXXX to get any movement on my account and it's still messed up. I reveived a letter from MOHELA stating XXXX of my loans were being XXXX, but later found out through the XXXX XXXX XXXX my loans should be dismissed if they were from XXXXXXXX XXXX because of how long its been unresolved and the Department of Education failed to handle it in the time frame given by the court.…
I am a federal student loan borrower with a Consolidated Unsubsidized loan ( Principal : {$130000.00} ) and a Consolidated Subsidized loan ( Principal : {$22000.00} ), both at a 6.875 % interest rate. I applied for loan consolidation and an IDR plan in XX/XX/XXXX. MOHELA failed to process my IDR application and instead placed me on an expensive Standard Repayment Plan in XX/XX/XXXX. When I contacted them, representatives admitted they had my application but were refusing to process IDR plans. Following this, MOHELA engaged in severe, conflicting servicing actions. In XX/XX/XXXX, they sent a repayment schedule change, followed two days later by a mandatory 0 % interest forbearance notice. They then repeatedly generated illegal " past-due '' statements during my approved forbearance windows, constantly flipping my account status back and forth between active repayment and forbearance.…
To Whom It May Concern, I am filing a formal complaint against MOHELA for ongoing loan servicing errors that have caused financial harm and negatively impacted my XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( PSLF ) progress. MOHELA placed my loans into forbearance without my authorization for XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. I continued making payments during this time and have been attempting to obtain a refund since XX/XX/XXXX. Despite over XXXX hours spent contacting MOHELA and multiple communications, I have been repeatedly told that a refund check was issued and mailed, yet I have never received it. Additionally, MOHELA retroactively placed my loans into forbearance for XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX. As a result, payments I made during these months are no longer being counted toward my XXXX qualifying payment total. MOHELA has provided inaccurate explanations for these actions, including attributing the forbearance to an Income-Driven Repayment application submitted on XX/XX/XXXX.…
I am a XXXX resident filing a complaint against MOHELA for its unfair, deceptive, and legally invalid refusal to honor my School Misconduct Discharge Application regarding my private student loan portfolio. I am an approved class member in the federal class-action settlement Sweet v. Cardona ( Sweet v. McMahon ) . I attended XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) and the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. Both institutions are explicitly listed in " Exhibit C '' by the federal court due to established, pervasive, and systemic institutional fraud. As a direct result of this court-approved federal settlement, the U.S. Department of Education has validated the fraud and is actively discharging XXXX XXXX of my federal student loans associated with these schools. My private student loans, which originated with XXXX XXXX in XXXX, were transferred to XXXX, then consolidated and transferred to MOHELA, and are backed entirely by the same fraudulent school contracts.…
" I am filing a formal complaint against MOHELA for an unfulfilled and delayed federal student loan refund. My loans were from XXXX XXXX and were officially discharged in XXXX under the Borrower Defense to Repayment program. Currently, my accounts are stuck in an administrative mismatch : the official Federal Student Aid ( FSA ) portal shows my balance as {$0.00}, but my MOHELA portal shows negative balances across multiple accounts totaling exactly - {$17000.00}. This negative balance represents the exact dollar amount of the eligible past payments I made, which have been approved for a refund. MOHELA has held my approved refund of {$17000.00} as a negative balance for over six months. They have failed to sync their system with the Department of Education or transmit this critical credit adjustment data to the U.S. Treasury Department so my checks can be printed.…
Requested Mohela to remove me from XXXX plan and place all my loan in repayment statues on XX/XX/XXXX. Mohela indicated they made an internal request. Made a qualifying payment on my XXXX loans on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. Payments were never added to my qualifying payment count. SAVE plan goes into effect XX/XX/XXXX. Submit a new XXXX request on XX/XX/XXXX. Qualifying payments were made on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. Mohela reported these payments as qualifying payments to XXXX XXXX XXXX as qualifying student loan payments. Called Mohela on XX/XX/XXXX, supervisor indicated that my IDR dated XX/XX/XXXX was still in processing with an error in payment. XXXX advise I resubmit XXXX plan for faster processing. Resubmitted IDR on XX/XX/XXXX. Called XXXX/XXXX/XXXX supervisor indicated XXXX was assigned for review.…
Good afternoon, I noticed that with studentaid.gov there has been encouragement to use autopay to lower the overall interest rate first by 0.25 % and with the recent change to 1.00 %. I have tried multiple times ( XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX ) to enroll in autopay and I have gotten emails showing my request but no action has been committed to my account. It says it XXXX take XXXX business cycles but it has been 7 months already and their line never picks up the phone. I feel as someone who pays their loans on time not being able to get a lower rate because of the website/servicer is extremely unjust and almost unethical. Thank you, XXXX XXXX. I have email documentation for the attempts for autopay
I am filing this complaint because MOHELA closed my prior CFPB complaint by providing an inaccurate and unsupported explanation rather than addressing the issue I raised. Their explanation is factually inconsistent with the documented sequence of events and that they failed to answer the questions posed. On or about XX/XX/XXXX, MOHELA processed a {$28000.00} Department of Defense Student Loan Repayment Program ( SLRP ) payment and applied it as a paid-ahead payment. Later, MOHELA removed the paid-ahead status and began reporting my account as delinquent, ultimately showing {$1100.00} past due while simultaneously displaying language on its own website stating : You are not required to pay more than the Current Amount Due to remain current during the IDR plan. I requested the specific transaction that removed my paid-ahead status, the date it occurred, and the policy or regulation authorizing that action.…
I have been involved with the PSLF program for over 11 years and have made appropriate payments in good standing during that time. After 10 years the remaining loan balance, as per the program, is to be discharged. Approximately 1-2 years ago after submitted my employment certification form, which is to be provided annually by the lendee ( myself ) the form was denied due to a change in the name of the employer. After correcting the issue and submitting the form at least 3 times subsequently as per the request of the lender ( Mohela ) the form remains under review and pending with no indication of resolution. It is made clear on the website and through discussions with the lender that these issues should be resolved within 60 days. To be clear, I have worked for the same employer, in the same position and title for more than 11 years. Previous submission of the certification form were approved.…
I had a child in XX/XX/XXXX. Following XXXX recovery and severe financial hardship, my federal student loans with MOHELA entered repayment on XX/XX/XXXX. I was completely unaware of the active repayment status and did not receive billing notifications during my transition out of school, which resulted in several missed payments. I only discovered this when my credit score dropped by XXXX points. I contacted MOHELA to request a Retroactive General Hardship Forbearance to cover the period of XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX, to bring my account current. The representative on the phone refused to backdate a hardship forbearance to cover my postpartum recovery gap. Instead, they only placed my account on an Administrative Forbearance starting XX/XX/XXXX. When I asked to speak to a supervisor to request a retroactive adjustment, I was told all supervisors were busy, and was forced into a XXXX callback queue.…
Initially, my loans were with Navient years ago. So, in 2023, I was told by FSA that I need to consolidate my loans with XXXX. There was some issue going on at that time with XXXX. So, I consolidated my loans and XXXX became my servicer. Also, I ended up on the SAVE plan that is no longer available. So, I signed up for a new IBR plan a month ago and now my payments are {$650.00} a month. I really cant afford this payment and my health insurance of {$850.00} a month. So, I'm going to have to get rid of the health insurance. The reason for this complaint is that I have contacted XXXX regarding my payment count and history. XXXX said contact XXXX and they should have all of my loan history. My payment count and history is not updated on the XXXX website. So, if I qualify for forgiveness based on making a certain number of payments, I have no idea if I qualify at this point. I have been paying these loans for decades.…
Account has been reported 60 days past due. Payment was missed in XXXX. To make up for XXXX payment a payment first of XXXX was made for the amount and then XXXX payment was made. XXXX payment missed they reported my account 60 days past due on XX/XX/XXXX which is no way my account was 60 days.
I have tried countless times to get someone from Mohela on the phone to get information on exactly what is going on with my student loans. After hours of trying you get someone who then tells you they have to transfer you. XXXX constantly playing telling you to refer to the website, but the website does not have the answers I need. They will send letters but then when you contact them to talk to someone you can't get anyone. It's very discouraging and frustrating. They report to my credit faithfully but I can't talk to them about my account.
I am utilizing Mohela for my student loans and attempting to complete XXXX. I have been in the XXXX program since XX/XX/XXXX and recertified my income driven repayment plan on time via Federal Student Aid ( XX/XX/XXXX ). My estimated monthly payment on Fed XXXX XXXX was {$800.00} from my most recent XXXX. Mohela received my recertification request and I was approved for XXXX with new monthly payments starting XX/XX/XXXX. This was then changed to just an " XXXX XXXX repayment plan '' and my monthly payments was to be $ XXXX. Based on the XXXX program, your monthly payment will can not be XXXX XXXX XXXX of your discretionary income. This {$1800.00} is based on my payment if I was on the standard repayment plan ( not income driven which is required for XXXX ). I called Mohela once in XXXX when I got this notice and they said it would be changed prior to XX/XX/XXXX and confirmed it will bXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX. It is now XX/XX/XXXX and there is no change.…
I refinanced my federal loans ( 4 in total ) serviced by MOHELA via XXXX. XXXX sent the funds to MOHELA with confirmation that they were received on XX/XX/XXXX. MOHELA applied it to a single loan with a massive credit left over of over {$93000.00}, the remainder of my loan amounts. I called MOHELA on XX/XX/XXXX ; the operator confirmed that they could see the over credit and submitted a request for the funds to be reallocated to cover the remainder of the loans. It has now been over 60 calendar days with no adjustment, during which time I have received multiple emails about interest accrual as well as demands to pick a new payment plan. I request that a supervisor manually process the XX/XX/XXXX reallocation request immediately and close this account with a {$0.00} balance backdated to the XX/XX/XXXX received date.
I have tried emails with mohela portal but no one responds
I have been emailing mohela in there portal without success and no response
Mohela has the loan and stated the got it from XXXX XXXX in Minnesota this loan was paid back in XXXX I have never heard from XXXX until today thinking I was discussing a completely different loan for a university and she mentioned school from XXXX that loan was paid the amount she said I owed was {$5700.00} that's wrong that's with their fees and holding the loan MOHELA said XXXX XXXX in Minnesota gave them the loan they purchased a loan that was paid for. I can not work without a license. At renewal my license would have gotten flagged by the state of Illinois for no payment and not issued. I have had a a license XXXX for cosmetology. It started with this XXXX XXXX they lied and committed fraud and a scam. For me to pay twice on a loan.…
Formal Complaint Against MOHELA for Autopay System Interface Failure and Inaccurate Credit Reporting I am requesting an executive administrative review and a retroactive adjustment to remove 90-day delinquency markers from my credit report. I am a highly responsible borrower with a multi-year history of perfect compliance, but my credit score was recently decimateddropping XXXX points from an Excellent rating of XXXX down to a XXXX rating in the 'Needs Work ' categorydue to a severe user-interface defect on MOHELA 's online XXXXatform. This massive drop has caused me severe financial distress and impaired my ability to access standard credit lines. As proven by my attached XXXXXXXX XXXX statement, when my previous bank experienced a processing error, I immediately logged in, added my new XXXXXXXX XXXX checking account, and cleared the balance. On XX/XX/year>, a payment of {$120.00} successfully drafted from this Ally account directly to " DEPT EDUCATION STUDENT LN.…
I am disputing an unfair delinquency reported by MOHELA on my student loan. My account is set to paperless billing, which contractually and legally obligates MOHELA to send email billing notifications when a payment is due. Due to a systemic technical glitch on MOHELA 's end, they completely stopped sending me any monthly email notifications after XXXX XXXX XXXX. They failed to send mandatory monthly billing alerts, only sending notifications directly to their online account portalwhich I did not see, as I rely entirely on their promised email alerts to manage my bills. I was completely unaware of any past-due balance until I saw a delinquency hit my credit report. The moment I paid the balance to bring my account current, MOHELA 's system immediately and successfully sent me a payment confirmation email on XXXX XXXX XXXX. This proves their email system is fully functional, but completely glitched and failed to send billing alerts for five months.…
Request for Investigation and Issuance of PSLF Refund To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to request an immediate investigation into the status of my Public Service Loan Forgiveness ( PSLF ) refund, which I have been unable to obtain despite repeated attempts to resolve this matter. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received two official MOHELA letters notifying me that my federal student loans had been forgiven under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness ( PSLF ) program. One letter lists an effective forgiveness date of XX/XX/XXXX, and the second lists an effective forgiveness date of XX/XX/XXXX. Both letters state that if applicable, a refund will be processed for payments made after the effective forgiveness date. I had no remaining federal student loan balance after my PSLF discharge. Despite these letters, I have never received my refund. My monthly payment of {$430.00} was automatically withdrawn from my savings account throughout all of XXXX and through XX/XX/XXXX.…
Mohela billing errors and PSLF miscounting- illegal overcharges and misleading statements.
I am a public service worker seeking immediate Public Service Loan Forgiveness ( PSLF ) discharge. On XX/XX/year>, I submitted a timely application to transition from the blocked SAVE plan to a qualifying Income-Driven Repayment ( IBR ) plan ( see attached Department of Education confirmation email ). XX/XX/year> marks my XXXX month of certified full-time public service employment. Instead of placing my account into a standard processing forbearance during this transitionwhich legally yields PSLF creditMOHELA erroneously left my account coded under the general SAVE litigation administrative forbearance. Because of MOHELA 's extreme administrative processing delays, my first IBR payment was pushed out to XX/XX/year>. MOHELAs failure to properly code my transition period has blocked my statutory right to immediate loan forgiveness.…
MOHELA is failing to properly process my federally mandated student loan discharges, which is harming my financial standing. I am a Sweet v. XXXX XXXX XXXX from XX/XX/XXXX and an XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XXXX recipient. My statutory deadlines and processing windows have expired. I demand an immediate administrative review and audit of my account by MOHELA to clear my balances and release my U.S. Treasury refunds.
Over a period of several years, I repeatedly contacted my student loan servicers to obtain information regarding my federal and private student loans. After submitting requested documentation on multiple occasions, I frequently received inconsistent or inaccurate information from customer service representatives regarding my loan status, repayment options, and account balances. My loans were placed into forbearance and/or deferment without my informed consent or a clear explanation of how those actions would affect interest accrual, capitalization, repayment timelines, or my overall loan balance. As a result, my loan balances increased significantly due to interest and fees that I do not fully understand or believe were properly disclosed. In addition, I have identified discrepancies in my account balances and charges that were not previously reflected on my accounts.…
I was making my payments for the past two years that they said would count towards forgiveness and than suddenly this month I received an email to check my progress. They now are claiming the payments I made the past two years do not count. They want me to now change my re payment plan. I was very close to having the loans forgiven and had been using the payment plan I had because they did count towards forgiveness.
Data breach incorrect information report negatively on report.
I was involved with trying to payback my student loans through the company XXXX using ( XXXX ). The last email I have from them is XX/XX/year>. Since then other agencies say I should be setting up XXXX XXXX through them, yet none of the money I had sent to XXXX appears to be calculated or reimbursed. I'd like XXXX and XXXX to be held accountable.
