I am trying to cancel my timeshare contract because a hurricane caused major damage to my primary home. I had to take out new loans to rebuild, and I simply can not afford the monthly timeshare payments of {$1000.00} or the yearly maintenance fees. During the sales presentation, the staff promised me that I could easily rent out the timeshare to cover these costs, but that turned out to be untrue. I have tried to contact the resort directly to cancel, but they give me the runaround and refuse to help. Instead of helping me cancel, the resort sent my account to a debt collector called Monterey Financial Services. Monterey Financial is aggressively coming after me for {$66000.00}. The problem is that they are using confusing and mismatched names for the creditor, like XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. These names do not match the legal name of the company on my original contract, which is XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX.…

NOTE : This account is in my married name and I have gone back to my maiden name On XX/XX/year>, my timeshare resort, XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX XXXX, SC ), forwarded my physical maintenance fee check of {$1200.00} directly to Monterey Financial Services. Monterey opened their collection file and mailed me a letter on that exact same day, XX/XX/year>. Therefore, the principal debt was fully satisfied upon receipt. The check successfully cleared my bank account on XX/XX/year>. While I acknowledge and agree that I owed a legitimate {$57.00} late fee to the resort for the initial delay, Monterey Financial Services is attempting to collect an additional {$440.00} in " collection fees '' and compounding daily interest. On XX/XX/year>, Monterey emailed me claiming these massive fees were assessed by XXXX XXXX XXXX. However, on XX/XX/year>, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX explicitly stated to me that this 35 % surcharge was " assessed independently by the collection agency, '' not the resort.…
I am filing a complaint regarding inaccurate credit reporting by XXXX. An account listed under [ Monterrey Financial, XXXX ] is being reported as potentially negative, despite the account being properly closed on [ XX/XX/year> ] and [ cancelled contract within the XXXX hours specified in the contract ]. I previously disputed this directly with XXXX, but the issue was not corrected. This information is inaccurate and is negatively impacting my credit profile. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), credit reporting agencies are required to ensure the maximum possible accuracy of the information they report. I am requesting that XXXX conduct a proper investigation and : - Correct the account status to reflect accurate information, OR - Remove the account if it can not be verified I have attached supporting documentation showing the correct account status.
Monterey Financial Services structured a consumer retail transaction for a durable good ( binoculars ) as a lease, despite the item having no commercial residual value and no return mechanism. This classification conceals the true cost of credit and appears designed to evade Idaho usury statutes and mandatory lending disclosure requirements. Fees and charges imposed exceed permissible interest rates under Idaho law. I previously contacted Monterey to resolve this matter and received no substantive response. On XX/XX/year>, I sent a formal written dispute and debt validation demand pursuant to 15 U.S.C. 1692g, requesting the original signed agreement, itemized payment history, and documentation of legal authority to collect. I demanded cessation of collection activity pending validation and deletion of this tradeline from all three consumer reporting agencies.…
Monterery financial services overcharged my savings account. At first i was submitting payments through XXXX, when suddenly they switched financial institutions to Monterey. My first two payments were submitted through XXXX and my last two payments were submitted through Monterey financial services. My payment was for a weapon that I bought through guns.com. The payments were supposed to be for {$260.00}. I was on my last 2 payments for the financial services so I went ahead and submitted a total of {$530.00}. But the following day after I submitted that I was charged another {$260.00}. After I had paid the final {$530.00}. The account shouldve been closed with Monterey financial services. But they had charged me. Additionally, another payment after my account shouldve been closed. I was trying to contact Monterey financial service services and I got in contact with a lady who is a representative for them. Who gave me a very unprofessional attitude in terms of my help.…
Monterey Collection services are reporting an unverified debt on my credit report and completely ignored a Certified validation request. Request was sent XX/XX/year> receipt was returned XX/XX/year> and no response received as of XX/XX/year> but is still being reported on my credit report. I was recently denied credit, and I was never contacted or informed of the negative reporting of debt until notified through my credit monitoring.
This account was assigned to Monterey Financial Services, XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, with an original balance of {$1400.00}. The account is held jointly between myself and another co-debtor. I was never contacted prior to this account appearing on my credit report, despite being an equal co-debtor with independent rights under the FDCPA, including the right to notice and the right to request validation. I first learned of this collection when I reviewed my own credit report. By XX/XX/XXXX, the reported balance had increased to {$2000.00} with no explanation or itemization provided for the {$520.00} increase. This unexplained increase raises concerns that Monterey Financial Services may be attempting to collect amounts not authorized by the original agreement, in potential violation of XXXX U.S.C. XXXX ( XXXX ). On XX/XX/XXXX, I spoke with a Monterey Financial Services representative by phone.…
Monterey Financial Services, LLC is actively reporting a collection account on my credit files for an alleged debt originating from XXXX. Monterey Financial has called my telephone to pursue this collection but has completely failed to provide the legally required written Debt Validation Notice within XXXX days of initial communication, which is a direct violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ), 15 U.S.C. 1692g. Furthermore, they placed this collection on my credit report without sending any prior written consumer disclosures. The underlying debt stems from a predatory contract with XXXX, an entity heavily penalized by the FTC for widespread consumer fraud. I attempted to resolve this inaccurate information through an automated credit bureau dispute, but it was wrongfully verified. Because the collector failed to validate this debt and failed to follow federal notice requirements under the FDCPA, this unverified account is non-compliant and must be deleted.
To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding repeated unprofessional, disrespectful, and potentially improper handling of my account interactions with Monterey Financial representatives. Over multiple phone calls, I have experienced a consistent pattern of conduct that is unacceptable in a consumer financial services environment, including but not limited to : 1. Repeated Call Disconnections During Assistance or Transfer Attempts On several occasions, I have been advised that my call is being transferred to a supervisor, manager, or appropriate department. However, instead of being properly transferred, the call has been disconnected entirely. This has occurred more than once, forming a clear pattern rather than an isolated technical issue. 2. Failure to Provide Professional and Respectful Communication During interactions, I have been spoken to in a tone that I find dismissive, unprofessional, and disrespectful.…
You reported a collection to all XXXX of my credit bureaus without ever sending me the dunning letter required by federal law, and because of it my wife and I walked out of our mortgage closing this morning empty-handed. We'd saved XXXX years to close on that three-bedroom, my wife had already bought the keychain, and we had to walk out past the other couples in the lobby because the loan officer pulled my credit and saw the collection you slapped on my file without ever giving me a chance to dispute it. None of this would have happened if you'd followed the steps the law put in place before reporting a debt to the bureaus. I've attached the letter I sent you laying out every FDCPA violation in detail.
I am filing a complaint regarding an alleged debt being collected by Monterey Financial Services, LLC CA : LICENSE # XXXX on behalf of XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I was recently contacted by Monterey Financial Services LLC , back on XXXX XXXX, via email, regarding a debt of estimate of {$2000.00} that is allegedly related to a purchase made in XXXX. I do not recall making this purchase and have no recollection of entering into an Contracted Agreement that would result in the balance being claimed, 7 years ago. Today, XX/XX/XXXX ; I noticed that Monterey Financial Services, LLC was listed on my Credit Bureau report with XXXX & may be on XXXX for an unpaid debt. As of today, Monterey Financial Service LLC, is not listed on my XXXX Credit Bureau report.…
I have a commission in my account and I asked for evidence confirming that its my debt between me and them and I didnt get that.
On XX/XX/year>, I sent Monterey Collections a written request for debt validation and a cease-and-desist communication notice. Despite receiving my request, Monterey Collections has continued to contact me by email over the past several months. I requested that Monterey Collections provide validation of the alleged debt and cease further communications with me as permitted under federal law. However, I continue to receive collection-related emails after my written notice was sent. As a result, I am requesting that this matter be investigated and that Monterey Collections provide evidence of compliance with my debt validation request and explain why collection communications continued after receipt of my cease-and-desist notice. I have retained copies of my correspondence and the subsequent emails received from Monterey Collections and can provide them upon request.
This complaint also serves as my formal request for debt validation under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ) to MONTEREY COLLECTION SERVICES. My attached letter specifies the full list of records that must be provided to establish legal standing and balance accuracy, including : The original signed contract or agreement, A full itemized account history, Documentation proving MONTEREY COLLECTION SERVICES owns the debt, The purchase or assignment agreement, and All prior notices, including the validation notice required under 15 U.S.C. 1692g ( a ). By submitting this through the CFPB portal, I am ensuring that this request is documented, transmitted, and subject to regulatory review. Transparency and legal verification are core consumer rights, and I expect MONTEREY COLLECTION SERVICES to respond in full. In addition, to protect my rights under the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), I am also disputing the accuracy and completeness of the account.…
I enrolled in a XXXX XXXX training program several years ago. At the time, I believed that my enrollment/program had been canceled and that I no longer had any financial obligation related to the account. I did not receive clear communication indicating that the cancellation was unsuccessful or that a balance remained due. The first email I received regarding this alleged debt was in XX/XX/year>. Until then, I was unaware that XXXX XXXX considered the account active or unpaid. I dispute owing this debt because I reasonably believed the program had been canceled and closed years ago. In addition, I did not meaningfully use the program or services. If the account history and usage records are reviewed, they should show little to no activity associated with the program. After being contacted, I requested validation and documentation regarding the alleged debt, including copies of any agreement or contract.…
Monterey Financial the Original Creditor per my credit report state I own them {$2200.00}. they have not comply to my request for what service they provided for this balance. i requested any agreement or information of services i received for this charge. no response from Monterey Financial.
As I was on the phone with Monterey financial to figure out why they where reporting a debt to the credit bureau I was threatened with lawsuit if I didnt pay and I requested a written confirmation of the debt and the lady sounded hastily and kept wanting me to pay for the debt even after my request for the validation letter
XXXX XXXX solicited on the streets of XXXX XXXX debit cards for listening to timeshare offers. This was refused and pressure tactics imployed to get people to sign up. I never signed up or used these services. They added my name to my wife, XXXX XXXX, who also never used or signed up for the services. Later the company tried to imply the services were never cancelled and tried to charge our credit more than {$3100.00} for a timeshare we knew nothing about and never used. This is an illegal act of fraud that was reported to the credit bureaus,
The affiliated company failed to provide any of the promised services ; consequently, this business arrangement appears to have been a scam from the very beginning. Upon reviewing my credit report, I discovered that this company is reporting on me, despite the fact that I never utilized any of their services. I require this entry to be removed immediately, as it is preventing me from obtaining business credit.
XXXX XXXX tricked me into an enrollment over the phone, and Monterey Financial is trying to enforce a deceptive loan and ruining my credit by XXXX points. They refuse to help when I call.
I am disputing a debt Monterey Financial Services is attempting to collect for a XXXX XXXX XXXX membership. XXXX provided multiple travel certificates and perks in writing as part of the sales presentation and stated they were included with the membership. When we attempted to redeem them, the email bounced, the phone numbers were disconnected, and XXXX XXXX stated they had no record of our account. XXXX later liquidated. Monterey told us they can not honor the debt and could not validate the benefits or the contract terms. Despite this, they continued collection attempts and threatened wage garnishment, which is illegal without a judgment. The debt is based on misrepresented sales promises, can not be validated, and is being collected using false threats. I am requesting CFPB assistance to stop collection and remove this invalid debt.
I was sold a loan through Monterrey Financial to pay for tax relief services from XXXX XXXX based on representations that my tax debt could be reduced or resolved. I incurred approximately {$3700.00} in debt for these services. The result was an IRS payment plan that I could have arranged directly myself, and my tax debt was not reduced. I was induced into financing services before a meaningful analysis of my actual eligibility for tax relief was provided. I am requesting a review of this financing arrangement and the circumstances under which it was originated, as I am not tight to a loan that I was encouraged to agree to but did not received the tax assistance that was advertised

I am writing to have the following information removed from my credit file, the items that I need deleted are going to be attached in a PDF document. I am a victim of identity theft. I have multiple accounts and inquiries that I DID NOT apply for listed on my credit report. I ask that these items be deleted so my credit report will only show accurate information. I reported the theft of my identity to the Federal Trade Commission and have enclosed copies of the report. I would like these items deleted from my credit report as soon as possible. Please block this information from my credit report, pursuant to section 605B of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
I am filing this complaint because Monterey Collection Services is reporting an inaccurate debt on my XXXX credit report ( Account # XXXX ) that I have already unsuccessfully disputed with the bureau ( Report # XXXX ). The Facts : The balance of {$21000.00} is claimed to be owed for a vocational curriculum. However, I never attended these classes and never started the curriculum. Under consumer protection laws, I should not be held liable for services that were never rendered or utilized. I previously submitted a dispute to XXXX on XX/XX/2026, providing these details. The investigation was " updated, '' but the inaccurate collection remains on my report.
I mailed a debt validation request to Monterrey Collection SVCS regarding a collection account originating from a XXXX travel club. The request was delivered by certified mail on XX/XX/year>, and signed for by the company. I never received proper validation or documentation in response. Despite this, the company continued reporting and verifying the account with XXXX during the dispute process. The account also contains inaccurate information, including repeated invalid date entries. I am requesting investigation of the companys reporting and collection practices and requesting correction or removal of inaccurate information.
Monterey Financial has failed to address my concerns after being notified twice in writing that the debts on my account are disputed. They have refused to return the debt to the original creditor or remove the negative credit remarks from the major bureaus as requested. My attempts to work out a settlement with them directly led nowhere, leaving me in a difficult position with my credit standing. I need this situation rectified so my account can be sent back to the original creditor where I can work out a fair arrangement. The current lack of action from Monterey Financial is preventing me from moving forward and resolving my financial obligations. It is hard to find a path toward a solution when my written disputes are ignored. Please assist me in ensuring Monterey Financial complies with my request to step aside and clear the negative marks from my credit history. I want to handle this debt responsibly with the original party, but I need these obstacles removed first.…
